Cooking Around the World with Mrs. Majeed Calling all elementary foodies and aspiring chefs! Cooking Around the World is a new summer camp featuring regional recipes* and cultural activities. On each day of our ___ week camp, students will create two different dishes, develop kitchen techniques, and learn about the various cultures our recipes originate from through stories or crafts. They will also bring home a sampling of their dishes! Our camp will end with a Farmers Market visit and cooperative cook-off, in which students will select a fruit or vegetable to build their own recipe with. *Recipes will be vegetarian and allergies will be accommodated. Children with intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy summer camps as well as anyone else does. My 10 year old son is intellectually delayed. He looks forward to this camp every summer. In fact, he keeps asking us how many days until camp? He likes to swim, make crafts, sing and learn new skills at summer camp. CBMM’s Kids Club summer camps for 6-7 Year Olds - Saint Michaels, MD
Beginning June 20 and continuing through July 29, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is offering its week-long, half day Kids Camps, which bring age-appropriate Chesapeake-themed camps for children 4-7 years of age. Led by a CBMM educator, young Kids Club campers explore the magic of the Chesapeake Bay’s people, animals, and watercraft through fun and interactive activities, stories, games, and crafts. CBMM’s summer camps for children 4-5 years of age are offered during the weeks of June 20, July 4, and July 18; camps for children 6-7 years of age are offered the weeks of June 27, July 11, and July 25. Daily camps take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with campers meeting at CBMM’s Dorchester House and exploring the museum’s 18-acre campus and numerous exhibition buildings as part of the program. Participation is limited, with camps filling fast and pre-registration required. The cost for the week-long camp is $125 for CBMM members, or $150 for non-members, with scholarships available. SpringBreak MINI Sewing Camp this year will be March 8th and 9th from 8:00-11:30 am and includes ALL Supplies and snacks! Just bring your machine! If you don't have one you can rent one for $10 total for both days. (I can also give you suggestions on great machines that don't break your budget) Summer Camps - First Camp begins June 6th and then there are many more during the summer! This program combines technical development and fundamental techniques with safety while keeping a major focus on fun! Using special equipment, our staff teaches the standard track & field events: long distance, sprints, soft hurdles, relays, shot put, discus and standing long jump. 2016 JOE RUSSELL PATRIOT WRESTLING CAMPS George Mason University Head Wrestling Coach Joe Russell is gearing up for wrestling camps. Camps include 3 commuter Folkstyle Technique Camps July 25-29 (high school only), August 1-5 (ages 6 - 18) and August 8-12 (ages 6 - 12) and a Parent/Child Family Camp August 5-6. The 2016 staff will be headlined by the Mason coaching staff and wrestlers. Coach Russell brings in outstanding credentials as both an athlete and coach. Coach Russell has THREE NCAA national championship rings from the University of Minnesota as an assistant coach. Patriot camps will not only be beneficial to the competitors but for coaches to learn and interact with one of the most knowledgeable coaches in our profession. Camp will be held in the Field House on George Mason Universitys campus. We will be offering top-notch technique stemming from the Patriot wrestling system along with one-on-one interaction with Patriot wrestlers and coaches. Our GOAL is to provide the campers with a meaningful experience where they grow as a wrestler and a person. Each Winter Elite Faceoff Days will consist of warm ups, presentation and group practice of specific faceoff techniques as well as real time faceoffs. Faceoff techniques will include footwork, stance, hand position, primary move, counter move, GB play, wing play, stick work, and shooting instruction, etc. Individual player observation and instruction will occur throughout. Clinic will conclude with a skill appropriate king of the hill. Use the tools at hand to write a message to send in a bottle. Be careful - you may witness a volcanic eruption! Work together to design a means to escape the island and come home.
