Creative Adventures at Savannah Country Day - SCDS
Creative Adventures is an introduction to performing arts while learning to play creatively. We will utilize theatre exercises and "games" that assist in developing verbal and fine motor skills. We will pantomime, sing, and dance to music. Simple costume pieces and instruments are utilized. We also focus on the art of storytelling and how we can use our minds, voices, bodies and the space around us. We will create basic props, puppets and masks related to the stories to assist in the retelling and acting out a story. Card stock, paper bags, and art supplies are some of the materials used to create these items since the focus is on retelling and acting out the story not making an art project. End of Session Performance: On our last class day for this session, Friday, we will have a demonstration of the activities your child has participated in this week. It will be during the last 30 minutes of camp (11:30). Pictures and videos are allowed. Please take into consideration that your child may or may not feel self conscious with you and other parents watching. They may not perform or participate the same as they have in camp. Swim, Tennis and Flag Football Camp - Community Services Department - City of Palo Alto
Please sign up early for our popular tennis, flag football & swim camps held at Palo Altos Rinconada Park and Pool. Participants start each day with a tennis lesson 10-11:30am from the staff of Tennis program. Following tennis, the participates will eat with swim staff to eat from 11;30 am until 12:30 pm in the Rinconada Park. Following lunch the participates will head out to the field to engage in flag football from 12:30-2:30 pm with the Skyhawks coaching staff. After Skyhawks flag football, the participants will head over to the Rinconada Pool where they will enjoy swimming lessons, water games and be supervised by our lifeguards. Cost includes tennis lessons, soccer lessons, entrance to recreation swim, and supervision. Participants should bring a bag lunch, tennis racket, bathing suit, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and a towel each day. Ages 8-12. Pre and Post Care will be available before and after this camp. This class will delve into the techniques used by famous teachers such as Stanislavsky, Chekov and Boal, to truly hone their skills in bringing characters to life on the stage. Please contact Jay Goodlett to confirm that you have the required training to participate. Step into the role of a lifetime and learn the secrets of the Dramatic Arts! Using traditional and modern acting techniques, we will explore the dynamics of drama through the use of scene work. Your teaching artist will assign scenes from both contemporary and classical theatrical plays/musicals as you learn to expand your talents through the help of others.
