For over 20 years FONZ Nature Camp has matched campers with an appreciation for the great outdoors. My 13 year old son has attended this camp for the last 3 years. He plans to go again next year as well. Kid's Day Camp, afternoon session, for Kindergarten-2nd Graders. Register online at https://kideventpro.lifeway.com/myChurch/?id=30834 by June 6th. Campers will use the "participant registration" and chaperones will use the "volunteer registration." Cost is $12.50 for church members or $25 for non-members. Epidemiology: Disease Investigation - NCSSM Durham Campus
So long as humans have existed on this planet, microbes have coexisted with us. Theyve lived in our bodies and thrived in the environment, posing a silent and constant threat. Theyve caused fevers and panic, helped with digestion and immunity. In this introductory course in human microbial disease, students will be introduced to the impact that various microbes have had in our lives. Students will learn the principles and methods of disease investigation: investigating patterns of illness in populations, identifying infectious microbes by visual assessment, mode of infection, and symptoms. Students will be able to identify the characteristics of various pathogens and infectious agents, be able to explain how diseases spread, and will construct models, create presentations, and collaborate on projects related to epidemiol 919-416-2635

What could be more suited to summer than an adirondack chair! In this camp you will use the systems engineering process to plan, design, then build just the right size adirondack chair for you. During this process kids will not only be taught how to use tools safely but also develop their woodworking skills by using real tools and learning all about the designing process. This 4 week workshop will focus on making bags and purses using a resist method of wet felting. For many, felt is a crafting material sold in squares made out of some mish-mosh of synthetic fibers. Felting is actually extremely natural and is one of the most ancient art forms in mankinds history. It is still a widely used method which can create anything from clothing to toys and even houses. In this class, students will learn the basic process of wet felting which creates wool fabric by layering raw wool fibers, adding warm soapy water and a little elbow grease. This is an inter-generational class. The felting process is simple but can be very versatile which makes it a great opportunity for parents and children to work together side by side.
