Join Blue Compass Camps for an exploration of the Beautiful Olympic Peninsula this Spring Break. We will hike, explorer history, visit the beach and the mountains. This trip will be as varied as the Olympics itself. We will spent time exploring coastal towns, majestic beaches and stepping into the rain forest around the Hoh River. As is the case with all Blue Compass Camps outdoor adventures: 1.) Our Goals, beyond having ridiculous amounts of fun with newly made friends, are to help develop social and self confidence while providing an exciting, challenging and unforgettable adventure experience. 2.) Our Staff support teens through compassionate strength-based perspectives, believing every adolescent has many gifts and unique qualities to offer. This Boy Scout Ranch Camp was established in 1983. My 14 year old son would not miss signing up for this summer camp. Nestled in over 200 miles of rugged country it is the perfect place to camp and explore nature. Our son liked the diverse topography of the land. In this session we take the children through nature trails and begin our journey with a trees parts and the role each part plays in a trees life cycle. After observing patterns in nature, students create their own design project that will reinforce the lesson learned. What makes a bird a bird? To find out, students go on a picturesque bird walk and use binoculars to observe birds closely. They comb the environment to investigate artifacts like feathers, feet, and skulls to discover how different birds learn to adapt and thrive in their special niches. A hands-on art project helps to reinforce this avian adventure. Through simple scientific observation and physical exploration, students investigate the nature of seeds, their role in the cycle of life, and interesting ways that they adapt, survive, and thrive in their environment.
