Boys Sports Camp with Coach Tom Myran - Germantown Friends School
The focus of Boys Sports Camp is on learning and competing in team sports, including basketball, soccer, baseball, flag football, floor hockey, and volleyball. In addition, campers also will take part in a variety of traditional games such as dodge and whiffle ball as well as individual sports such as tennis, wrestling, and track and field. Team-building, self-awareness and interpersonal skills will also be a focus. Our passionate and professional coaching team under the leadership of GFS Boys Varsity Track Coach Tom Myran will help participants become more skillful and confident athletes. Even more importantly, campers will have a terrific time making new friends and bonding with their upper school athlete-counselors whose job it is to reinforce the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and doing ones best on a daily basis. Swims at the Germantown Cricket Club add to the summertime fun! Summer Language Camp: Week 2 - Lyman Campus
SUMMER LANGUAGE CAMP: Ages: Girls and Boys Entering Grades 3 - 6 Dates: June 27-July 1 and August 1-5 Time: 9:00 am - 3:30 pm Format: Two, one week sessions Location: Laurels Lyman Campus in Shaker Heights Tuition: $400/session This camp is designed to introduce students to modern languages while they experience summer fun including cooking, sports, arts, sightseeing and field trips throughout the city – in the target language. Your child will be immersed in language, culture and pure fun in this camp led by Laurel World Languages faculty and counselors who are fluent in the language. Languages are offered in an immersion setting to give campers the foundation they need to enter a language class at their grade level. While cooking tapas, crepes or egg rolls, our students spontaneously use their target language to request flavors, colors, and what they like and dont like. Summer campers have such a blast they often forget that they are experiencing it in another language! After School Hoops - Valle Verde Elementary
Instructor: One on One Basketball () Room: Blacktop After School Hoops® is a weekday afternoon basketball program for aspiring young players. The one hour instructional sessions combine fundamental skills instruction with organized team competition with the goal of providing an enjoyable and educational after school athletic event. Developing players benefit by improving their individual skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting, rebounding, and defending while, at the same time, learning how to work within the framework of a team. Boys and girls of all skill levels are encouraged to join. One of the many merits of After School Hoops® is that it provides school children with an organized after school event at which they can learn, socialize, and most of all, have fun. Parents and teachers often express concern that idle and unsupervised after school hours provide too many negative temptations for their children. Using athletics as the vehicle, After School Hoops® provides children with an opportunity to improve their overall physical fitness, develop sportsmanship and athletic integrity, and gain an understanding of the game of basketball. Develop quick and accurate typing skills in this practical computer program. Daily lessons will include touch-typing techniques, drill sessions to improve accuracy, and tutorials in Microsoft Word & Excel. Tailored activities for beginner or advanced computer-users make this a valuable experience in preparing for the next step in every students career.
