My son is going to be a senior this upcoming year and this past summer, he wanted to go to ASM Materials, Metallurgy, and Forensics Engineering Institute in Rapid City, SD. We reluctantly sent him, but were amazed at all the wonderful things he learned and did while he was there. He had hands-on learning in an educational environment about materials, metals, building and engineering. It was as if he has gone away for a semester of college. 2016 Pre-Teen Summer Camp – Register March 9-11 - Scott Air Force Base
Youth, ages 9-13, are invited to register for the YP Pre-Teen Summer Camp which is held weekdays during the summer months from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This camp offers half day care with extracurricular activities for youth. Field trips will be conducted once a week to places like Sky Zone, City Museum, Raging Rivers Water Parks, The Fusion, laser tag, as well as excursions to base activities. (Field trips/activities such as bowling are an additional cost.) Fee: $100/child per week, plus the cost of excursions. Youth Programs membership is required. Annual Program membership is $48/child. Camp begins at 6:30 a.m., and ends at 12:30 p.m. when open recreation at the Youth Center starts. Youth are required to bring their own meals, however the snack bar is open periodically. Limited slots are available, sign-up early! Registration will coincide with School Age Program Summer Camp registration days, March 9-11 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more details, call Youth Programs at 256-5139.
Big Kid on Campus
Do you know or have kids that have in some way been affected by cancer, whether that means they have battled it themselves or have loved ones that have? Would they enjoy spending a day at Georgia Tech with college students? Then bring them on out to Georgia Tech Christian Campus Fellowship for Big Kid on Campus, a Saturday full of fun! We are hosting a day full of fun entertainment and activities including games, crafts, makeovers, kickball with the Georgia Tech Softball team, and even an appearance by Santa! If you are interested in volunteering to make this happen and spend the day with these wonderful kiddos, you are also welcome! We need student volunteers at each and every event and would love to have YOU. So, if you so desire, come to as much as you are able to throughout the day and please RSVP to this event! Thanks! In this introductory course in human microbial disease, students will be introduced to the impact that various microbes have had in our lives. Students will learn the principles and methods of disease investigation: investigating patterns of illness in populations, identifying infectious microbes by visual assessment, mode of infection, and symptoms.
