Float Camp: The week before the 4th of July is the time to celebrate the pioneers of our country and build a real parade float!!. Float Camp 2016 will construct the MAT 4th of July float to compete in the Hailey 4th of July Parade (last year we placed #1). Wood, screws, paint, string and imagination are the building blocks for this camp. Please help us with our 1st Jamison Hook Allstate Coats-4-Kids drive. We are excited to participate in this event with KXLY who have been keeping area kids warm for the last 30 years! With winter around the corner we need to insure the children of our community are taken care of! Kid "Camp." Special volunteer opportunity for 11-16 year olds. - Haver
The summer will be gone before we know it, but we are still galloping full speed ahead which is why Tomten Farm and Sanctuary will be offering a special mentoring program to animal loving kids ages 11-16. This unique program is designed for kids with the desire to learn more about the day-to-day operations of an animal sanctuary and get hands on experience with our rescues. Taught by our long term volunteer and intern, UNH Equine Science major, Aileen W., it’s sure to be chock of personal attention, education, hard work, and more animals than you can count. Join us at the farm 2-3 weekdays from July 10th to the 31st, 10:30-2:30 and help us go above and beyond to maintain happy, healthy animals 365 days a year. As always, safety comes first so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing (closed toed, hard shoes, bug spray and sunscreen) and bring a signed release, a copy parent/guardian license or federal ID (feel free to black out addresses, birth dates, and SS or S numbers) drinks, lunch, and an appetite to contribute and get involved with one of your favorite rescues! Back for its fifth year with some great new additions! Evenings will be filled with classic activities we all know and love--swimming, sports, challenge courses, campfires, Spirit-filled worship, along with some new extreme activities--while each day will be spent in service to the communities that surround us. Weve teamed up with local programs in and around our city of Lexington to embrace the young, love the marginalized, and serve the disadvantaged. Each day is filled with opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ (and weve also thrown in a few suprises!). Teen Camps- Handbuilding with Clay! - Artworks Texas Studio
This special camp is designed for teens who want to get their hands into clay for 3 hours each day! Teens who have already participated in an Artworks Texas pottery class or workshop are welcome to attend this camp. Students who already have experience with clay will be involved in more advanced projects. Handbuilding is the oldest form of working with clay. Ancient techniques were used to create tools for everyday living, long before the invention of the pottery wheel. Students will explore many aspects of creating with clay off the wheel. Techniques such as coil, pinch pots & slabs will be used in combination to create work during the week. At the end of camp, all projects will be fired & ready for pickup in 2-3 weeks.
