LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Horse Camp - Week 7 - The Greenwell Foundation
Horse Camp is for children ages 7 – 14 (by first day of camp session). This camp is the ideal setting to learn and discover all things horses! After discovering which horse they will be partnered with, campers are assigned to a lesson group based on their incoming skill set. Horsemanship is emphasized by allowing campers to saddle their own horse, help care for their horse and learn all about horse health. Riders will be taught safety, comfort in the saddle and control of the horse. More experienced riders will be challenged through the week with pre-jumping skills, some gymnastic exercises and leg yielding. Each day, each group will have the opportunity to ride in the morning for approximately 30-45 minutes after spending time grooming and tacking up horses. When not participating in a riding lesson, they will learn about barn management and all things horse! In addition to riding and working with the horses, campers will have the opportunity to do archery, kayaking, hiking, field games, crafts and get wet with water games. Each afternoon, campers are provided an afternoon snack and each week a chance to make Smores. The week ends with Tye-Dye Friday for a take-home memory... 301-373-9775

Technique Portion: Coach John Azevedo covers his fundamental inside tie series that he made famous at Calvary Chapel and also at Cal Poly. Also covered: fundamental escapes from the bottom, Recovery and sit outs & Top rides. Intensive Training: Coach Matt Azevedo will once again run our Intensive portion of this session. They will focus on teaching conditioning and weight training along with how to sustain proper nutrition and mental focus at elite levels. This half day camp is perfect for the younger child who is still on training wheels or going from push bike to pedal bike. Our goal is to get them riding their own bike on two wheels by the end of the week using specific techniques, patience, and fun. You can come with training wheels on their bike if that is what they are used to riding. Or, if they are going from a push bike to a pedal bike, just make sure they have a bike that fits - no training wheels need to be added. We will work toward removing all training wheels as the week progresses. Please bring a helmet, 2 snacks, a water bottle, rain gear and closed toe shoes.
