In On Stage: Spotlight, everyone is a star! Our two week camp is designed to allow students the opportunity to dive into performance and design/construction aspects of theatre by working on an abridged production. This year, students will perform 5-7 musical numbers with corresponding scenework from the Broadway hit, Matilda, based on Roald Dahls beloved book. Well start each day with physical, vocal, imagination & focus building warm-ups. Heres what well be doing: * * creating & developing characters * * rehearsing scenes/songs * * blocking/choreographing musical numbers * * learning music * * set design and scene painting * * designing/building props and costumes * * playing drama games * * getting to know the theatre space and theatre terminology * Our goal is to have every student on stage as much as possible, every student engaged in the creative process, every student proud discovering their design potential, every student proud of their work. The Cobra's youth football camp is a non-contact football camp that cultivates talented young people in an effort to unite a community that has deeply supported athletics and leadership building. Participants of the Cobra's Camp will receive personal coaching from TN Cobra players and other former college players, and trained coaches. All youth (boys & girls) between the ages of 5-13 are encouraged to participate. We only have 100 spots; this event is being held at an indoor athletic facility and will not cancel due to weather. Traveling Teen Camp (Jun 20-23, Grades 6-9) - Medinah Park District
Are you looking for something different to do this summer? Take a new adventure every Monday-Thursday and enjoy many Chicagoland hot spots! Past trips have included a Wrigley Field tour, downtown Chicago, museums, water parks, laser tag, Gameworks, IMAX, bowling, zoo, athletic events and more. Transportation and all admission fees to destinations included. One day a week will be spent at the park district participating in fun games, activities and guest speakers. Refunds will not be given once camp has started due to numerous field trip deposits that have to be made. Bring a sack lunch and drink every day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Every camper will receive a camp shirt. Please make sure to note shirt size on registration form. Extra shirts are available for an additional fee. Our counselor to camper ratio is 10:1. Folk Art Around The World with Nellie Shevelkina Go Global! Learn about different cultures through their arts. We will travel from Africa to the Americas, Europe to Asia, Australia and in between discovering traditional folk arts from around the world. Explore the history, techniques, and special meanings of various crafts while noticing similarities and differences in their designs, patterns, and styles. We will create mosaics, painted and printed fabrics, sand paintings, mask making, paper maché figurines, paper cutouts, clay whistles, just to name a few. Students are encouraged to research their own cultural and ethnic backgrounds and proudly share these artistic traditions with the class. Fun with Metal with Connie Pfeiffer Make jewelry and mini-sculpture with copper sheet metal and wire to wear or hang. Stamp, fold, hammer, bend, cut, twist and even heat metal to create pendants, medallions and forms from nature such as pea pods and leaves. Students will explore using basic hand tools, especially hammers, mallets, cutters, files, pliers and torches (one-on-one with instructor) to create works in metal.
