A summer program offered in partnership with the O. Henry Museum... We invite young readers to explore a fantastic novel, take it apart, play around in its pages, admire its sentences and characters and questions, and create new work based on the novel. This workshop is led by a Badgerdog teaching artist (professional writer), and Book Crushers will showcase their work for parents on the final day. In previous years we crushed on Wonder by R.J. Palacio and The Turtle of Oman by Naomi Shihab Nye. Well announce this years title as soon as possible. 512-542-0076

My twin son and daughter, aged 10, can’t wait for Camp Si-La Meo every summer. It is designed for ages 5-15 years old and has a variety of activities for each age group. There are many outdoor activities: rock climbing, swimming, archery, boating, hiking, rifle training and horseback riding. This camp provides experiences my kids would otherwise not experience.... I cannot believe that I am a part of such an amazing organization that does so much good for kids struggling through so much adversity. Being in an organization like Camp Kesem has opened my eyes to how generous and kind people can be. Camp Kesem is an organization run by students who spend a ton of time all year fundraising money to allow children whose parents have or had cancer go to a fun, stress-free summer camp. Although this is my first year as a part of this wonderful organization, I already feel so strongly connected to all the counselors and want to do as much as I can to allow these kids to go to camp. Hearing all of these stories about how the kids tell such heart-warming stories, I feel like I would learn more from them than they would from me. It gets me even more excited to learn about all the various events we get to set up and how much fun everyone has every year that they go. I think the most rewarding thing about camp is being able to make that one week you have with such strong kids as special and...

KidSport Combo Camp. Ages 4-6. Week of 6/20 - 6/24 - Scarlett Middle School
[] Full Day Combo KidSport Morning and KidSport Summer Fun Ages 4 - 6. Lunchtime supervision provided. KidSport Morning: Kids enjoy a variety of individual and team sports, team building games, fitness and other physical activities KidSport Summer Fun: Each week kids have fun doing a variety of fitness activities, games, team building and crafts. Director: Kerry Winkelseth, UM School of Kinesiology. Campers should bring 2 snacks, lunch and beverage. Full Day, Monday-Friday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Curbside Pick-up and Drop-off. Staff will collect campers from your car at 8:00 AM and deliver back to your car at 4:00 PM. KidSport offers children the opportunity to learn and refine non-competitive sport-specific, team building and social skills. Friday, Jul 11-15, 9:00am -3:00pm (M-TH); 9:00am-12:00pm (F) Location: Fairfax High School Field House (Gym) Led by former Washington Wizards forward Awvee Storey and his experienced staff, the camp will feature professional instruction for boys and girls, with the instruction designed for the specific skill level of the participants. Coach Storey was a standout collegiate basketball player at Arizona State University, before continuing his playing career professionally in the NBA with the Wizards, New Jersey Nets, and Milwaukee Bucks. Storey also competed professionally internationally in New Zealand and the Philippines. The instruction will focus on the game?s fundamentals, while instilling the importance of commitment, teamwork, character, and sportsmanship helping each camper reach his/her full potential.
