Participants must be able to swim 50 yards of front crawl as well as 50 yards of breaststroke in good form. American Red Cross Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors will lead participants through two water sessions per day which will include group lectures on Aquatics Safety as well as introductions to Aquatic Sports. On the last day, participants will have the opportunity to use our giant inflatables and will take part in a Junior Lifeguarding Competition. This camp features 14 hours of ice time. Morning sessions will focus on the fundamentals of skill development and power-skating. Players will learn proper body position, edge control, and how to lengthen their stride. Puck protection, passing and scoring will be skills taught. The afternoon session will consist of and team play/concepts. Players will learn all aspects of team play and will develop skills through collegiate style practices. Coaching will parallel standards we teach to our college team. Games will be played Tuesday night, Wednesday night, and Thursday morning. Our coaches go beyond the basics and fundamentals, instructing campers based on their age, experience, and goals. Events include pole vault, shot put, discus, sprints, long jump, high jump, javelin and distance running. Athletes will receive three full days of comprehensive training, technique and drills.
