Lexington Family Magazine Summer Camps & Activities Fair - Lexington,
Visit booths representing camps, afterschool activities, birthday party venues, health care professionals, schools and more at our 14th Annual Fair. The Fair will be held at Lexington Christian Academy at 450 W. Reynolds Rd. just across the street from Meijer and behind Fayette Mall. We fill both of the gyms at the school. Each booth will have a fun activity for kids while Mom and Dad chat with the professionals. You'll find giant inflatables, face painting, costumed characters, games and giveaways. While you are there you can enter your kids in our Cover Model Contest. Professional photographer Lucy Chesnut, of Glitter and Sawdust Studios, will take photos of all their smiling faces and we'll use those pictures to choose winners who will appear on the covers of Lexington Family Magazine in the next year. Summer Recreation Camp - (Week 1) Week 1: Aloha Summer Welcome summer with some island fun! A fun filled week including activities such as limbo, sand art, tie-dye and more. Students will be introduced to specific drawing fundamentals and techniques including line drawing, value, shape, pattern, texture, shading, perspective and composition. This class will introduce different perspectives inspired from nature, still-life, photographs and the students own imagination. Olympics (3rd-6th) - Mulberry School
You dont have to be an athlete to join in this camp taught by Mulberrys Miles Lewis. Activities will be centered around fun and cooperative team sports as well as individual activities. In the spirit of the Olympics, well have plenty of team-building and sportsmanship opportunities. Activities will be driven by the campers. On any given day, campers may play soccer, frisbee golf, basketball, do gymnastics, martial arts, or participate in track and field events. Well start the week with Opening Ceremonies as the campers run through the campus and pass the torch to each "country," and well close with a Flag Ceremony. Throughout the week, campers will decide on the medals to be given and help to create them with all of the USA themed crafts well have available. Campers will also create flags (maybe they will choose a favorite country or create their own) for the closing ceremony. Home School Day: Take it Apart - The Mini Maker
During this session the kids are given safety instruction for every day use of basic hand tools such as screw drivers. Your kids work in groups to take apart every day household items that the kids are familiar with. This includes non-operational power tools, computers, home printers, alarm clocks, DVD players, ect. This session is designed for the kids to understand the concept that every day items are built and there are components, big or small inside of them.
