New this year is the Hartley Level 1 class. This replaces the 420 Level 1 program and offers a great one week learn to sail program for older students. Students will learn basic sailing lingo, how to rig and how to sail on this new slick boat. Youth Curator Camp Virginia Museum of Natural History Saturday, December 19 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youth Curator Camp is an opportunity for children ages 6 to 12 to learn about the museum while participating in fun, hands-on activities and programs. Parents and guardians – this is a great opportunity for your children to experience a day of scientific adventure and discovery while you finish up any last-minute holiday shopping! Campers will meet the museum’s scientists and learn about real museum collections. There will be demonstrations of the casting and molding program, with children having the opportunity to create, paint and take home their very own fossil cast! In addition to these unique activities, campers will enjoy pizza and a movie in the museum’s Education Center. AAC Summer Theatre Camp 2016 in partnership - Jasper, AL
This summer program will introduce students ranging from rising third graders to high school seniors to all aspects of the creative and technical sides of musical theatre production. From the audition to the final curtain, students will not only star in the production, they will also learn what it takes to put on a show. The program will include instruction in acting, voice, dance, set, costume, sound and lighting design and more. Treibball Week 4 - Animal Training Adventure Center
Treibball is a new way to play with your dog! Its a competitive sport for dogs of all ages and sizes. Treibball promotes better teamwork and communication between a dog and his handler. Its great fun for any energetic dog who works well off-leash and needs a job. Playing the game uses a combination of classic obedience and herding cues. Treibball began in Germany to give energetic dogs some much needed mental and physical stimulation. It is a great game, and a perfect pastime for American dogs and their owners, too! Its fun for any dog that loves to play chase games, herd, or just use his amazing, problem-solving ability. Competing in Agility takes special equipment, the ability to run with your dog and direct him through each obstacle. Treibball promotes the same kind of teamwork and communication, but does not put any physical stress on the handler. This game can be used to build confidence for a shy dog and help a reactive dog with impulse control. The session will also include animal-themed games. Does a hermit prefer a sturdy fortress of a shell or a light easy-to-run with shell? Well track them by their trails and see where they go. Then of course, we have to build our own houses - light or sturdy- and protect them from other marauding hermits. And by the way, whats the difference between an ocean hermit crab and a land hermit crab? And have you ever seen pictures of crazy-big land crabs that use coconuts for shells?!! You will.
