LATEST CAMPS NEWS: August 1-11: Backpacking/ Digital Storytelling (Ages 13-16) - Mountain Kids!
We are psyched to bring our dual passions for getting into nature and documenting our adventures to Mountain Kids! Campers will spend the first day learning what it takes to makes a compelling video, composition and audio recording. Campers will then learn how to prepare and pack for a backpacking trip, the 6 Ws of preparing for any outdoor trip, map reading and leave no trace principles. We will spend time writing and creating stories on a two night backpacking trip. During the second week, campers will share their time between the recording studio, the computer lab and getting outside to create a 2-3 minute video of their adventures. On Thursday evening we will celebrate with a screening of their work. Equipment Needed: • Backpacking pack, sleeping pad, a sleeping bag, and a mess kit (bowl, fork, spoon, cup). Some campers will need a tent to share. • A small camera or phone to capture stills and video • A small notebook and a pencil (There is an additional $25 materials fee in addition to camp tuition) 505-699-6230

Our classes will focus on healthy recipes for snacks, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Additional content will include kitchen safety skills, nutrition games, fun fitness activities, and more. Students will leave with the skills needed to work confidentially in the kitchen. This program is held for 3 hours a day over 4 days. Cost is $150 and includes a cookbook/workbook. Camp is limited to 10 students.

Shubert Summer Theater and Arts Camp - Shubert Summer Theater and Arts Camp
The Shubert Summer Theater & Arts Camp is a program for rising middle-school students (5th-8th grade as of fall 2016) who want to explore interests, potential, and opportunities in the arts. The camp offers students a chance to take in-depth classes in dance, music, theater, visual arts, and creative writing while in an arts rich environment. The camp is open to both New Haven and non-New Haven residents. Located at adjacent Cooperative Arts & Humanities High School, the Shubert Summer Theater & Arts Camp is situated in the heart of downtown New Haven, surrounded by theaters, galleries, and museums. In addition to an arts atmosphere, the camp is staffed by a combination of professional artists, teaching artists, and emerging student teaching assistants from Cooperative Arts & Humanities High School. Campers may either sign up for the Theater & Arts Camp, which allows them choose classes in music, theater, creative writing, dance and visual arts, or sign up for the Musical Theater Camp , which offers a curriculum of singing, acting, and theater-related activities. Bring your creativity, enthusiasm, and community spirit as we spend a week immersed in woodworking! Campers will learn about a variety of tools and techniques as they turn original project ideas into reality. Students will also participate in a service project partnering with students at the St. Aquinas Center in South Philly. Possible projects may include constructing a stool, a box, a bookshelf, birdhouse, musical instrument, a game, and more! Campers will work individually and collaboratively to plan, measure, cut, build, and decorate their projects using basic hand tools. Safety and proper use of protective eyewear will be stressed at all times, as campers work with saws, drills, chisels, hammers, and screwdrivers. Woodworking experience is not required; all that is needed is a desire to learn new skills and have fun! Early drop off is available at no additional cost from 8:00am-9:00am.
