It has become the largest full-gospel camp in America reaching over 20,000 each summer. Pastors Tommy and Rachel Burchfield have dedicated over twenty-five years to building the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Their home and ministry headquarters is Country Camp in Columbus, Texas where gathering churches, loving pastors and networking leaders have earned them international respect. Their children, Andrew, Peter, and Abby are also involved in ministry. Discovery Camp's resides on a a 1,088-acre Christian retreat center and ministry headquarters located in Columbus, Texas. The campus includes housing for 1100 campers, full recreational facilities and summer resident quarters for over 200 staff employees, interns, and ministry families. This is a time where we can all get together right before school starts. We will be hanging out on the beach playing games, swimming, tubing, and challenging each other from God's Word. We would love to have you all come back to get your Pine Ridge fix before you head back to school! Survival of the fittest! Come explore how plants and insects survive in a world dominated by humans. Bring an observant eye and ear as we investigate unique interactions between living organisms. Dissect a grasshopper and flower, test how ants respond to stimuli, create an insect soundscape, and more! The hands-on explorations, inquiry-based activities, and modeling will leave students buzzing with excitement! Please note that this program is an updated version of Insectology from last summer. We will explore seascapes, ocean life, lighthouses, and more while learning from masters in art such as Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer and Henri Matisse! Catch a wave with us into visual arts looking below the ocean surface in a submarine, and taking a walk along the sandy beach picking up sea shells. We will explore oil pastels, watercolor techniques, acrylic paint, paper collage, origami and more! Join us this spring to expand your artistic skills as we sail the open seas!
