Students explore robotics using LEGO® components and then use iPad®s and special effects apps to make a stop-motion movie. In the morning, campers build machines with LEGO® elements and then program and use them to uncover clues to solve a mystery. Theyll use motors to power projects and sensors to detect movement and trigger actions. Programming is easy with LEGO® WeDo® software - students drag and drop blocks on the screen to create the instructions to run their machines. Each student has their own kit and computer to use. Projects include building an airplane controlled through a keyboard, building a sensor-activated sliding door, making an amusement park ride controlled with a tilt sensor, and more. In the afternoon, students work in teams to create a stop-motion movie starring LEGO® minifigures and sets that they create using LEGO® components. Students record the movie frame-by-frame on an iPads®, add exciting titles, visual and sound effects, and background music in the Pinnacle Studio editing app! Both of my daughters attended this camp two years in a row; then my oldest daughter went on to be a camp counselor for a summer before she went on to basic training. They are now 28 and 30 years old and they STILL talk about their camp experience!!
I have a soon to be teen son, who attended the camp one year and I always wait too late to get him in again!

Horizon Youth is hosting our very first Summer Camp at Washington Family Ranch. This week long camp will be filled with all kinds of activities; basketball, volleyball, skateboarding, rock climbing, disc golf and hiking. If you’ve gone with us before to Winter Camp, you know just how great this camp is. How much more fun will it be to have access to more of what the camp has to offer in the summer months. Like swimming in the pool or zip lining across the lake, and driving go carts, just to name a few. Donnie Moore and his Radical Reality team will be our Guests Speakers all week and Tiffany and the band will be leading us in Worship each day. So grab some friends and register to go to camp, you’ll be challenged in your walk with God, encouraged in your faith and you’ll be able to start the new school year with confidence in who you are in Christ. This half-day camp is just the ticket for kids 6-14 years old who have expressed interest in and/or shown a talent for golf, but arent quite ready to play a full round. With the help of a Montgomery County Golf Academy instructor, campers will practice putting, chipping, driving and using irons and woods Monday-Thursday at the Driving Range. On Friday, theyll compete in a small tournament at a nearby golf course. Itll be a blast for juniors, and a great way to develop the skills needed to start playing golf with the family.
