Have fun reading a required summer reading book in a group setting. With the use of a variety of reading strategies, the course covers the reading of Number the Stars Students are asked to purchase the novel prior to the first class. All students should read the first two chapters of the book they are assigned before June 20th. Additional reading at home will be required. My daughter developed social skills at this camp!
My daughter is 13 and enjoyed this camp. The camp encourages community service for children entering grades 7–10. The goal of this camp is to raise youth to become responsible adults. Week 4 PM - Coastal Crusaders - Wuskenau Beach
Become a coastal crusader as you explore the coastline by kayaking, boogie boarding, stand-up paddle boarding, and identifying snorkel spots through local chart navigation readings. Analyze coastline changes, sift through ways to prevent beach erosion, and discover coastal ecosystems. Take the first exciting step in learning to surf by practicing your stance, balance, paddle technique, duck dives, and get a taste of riding waves. Includes: taste of surfing, kayaking, boogie boarding, stand up paddle boarding, snorkel adventures, playing in the salt pond and the ocean. 860-535-9362

Join us where the sun is always shining, the sand is warm and the water is just right....Take a dip and come on in! Campers will have fun using many different art materials to make drawings the easy KidzArt way. We will even use the sun to create a piece of art! Learn how to do 3-D projects and painting too. Friends and family are invited to join us for our end of camp art show. For full day campers please pack a snack, lunch and drink daily. Lunch can also be purchased at the school cafeteria. The Science and Art of Wax - Lyman Campus
Ages: Girls and Boys Entering Grades 7 - 10 Dates: July 5 - 8 Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Format: One-week session Location: Laurels Lyman Campus in Shaker Heights Tuition: $320/session From candles to cosmetics, colorful canvases to clothing, there are many wonderful ways we use wax to beautify and enrich our lives. What is it about wax that appeals to our senses of touch, taste, sight and smell? Beeswax. Paraffin. Soy wax. Gel wax. In this camp you will learn how to work with wax as a creative medium that is as versatile as clay or metal. You will also explore how wax is made and how the very different chemical and physical properties influence what it is best used for! Campers will create their own candles, practice wax resist techniques and will even learn the age-old craft of encaustic painting (using melted wax as paint).
