Rock Band Camp @ SMCC - San Marcos Community Center
Students will learn how to play basic drum, guitar, bass and piano riffs to various lyric-appropriate (parent-approved) rock/pop songs of their choice. Classes will include ear training, learning to read music notation, instrumental techniques, viewing music video clips for inspiration, and more! No experience necessary, but welcomed! Instruments will be provided to share, but bring any that you have from home. Time will be allotted each day for a snack and water break. A short performance will take place on Friday at the end of class from 11:40-Noon where students will have the opportunity to sing and/or play different instruments for the songs we have been developing throughout the week. 20% sibling discount. LIGHT TO DARK: DARKROOM EXPLORATION - Walker-MacKenzie Studio - Gertrude Herbert
Instructor: Rosanne Stutts The technical aspects of black-and-white photography will be emphasized so that students can work more creatively with their camera and in the darkroom. Camera operations, use of equipment such as lenses, tripod, and light meter, and correct film selection are among the topics to be covered. Learn basic density and contrast controls for both negatives and prints, along with proper film development. Basic darkroom procedures, safety, printmaking techniques, burning and dodging, toning, archival processing and print presentation will also be discussed. Please bring your own 35-mm camera with manual controls.
