The IDEAL School and Kids Creative are partnering again to offer a third year of after school enrichment courses and supervised play activities for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, Monday through Friday. Kids Creative has been running after school programs throughout New York City for 16 years and is excited to continue the growing relationship with The IDEAL School, its students, families, and community. Our Fall 2015 Class Offerings Every afternoon, we will offer at least one class as well as free play. MARTIAL ARTS (Monday – Grades K-5) Ever wanted to be a ninja? Build strength, confidence and agility in our martial arts class. This class combines traditional martial arts moves with fun and exciting games. Each class includes activities with lessons on respect, discipline, self-control, concentration and goal setting. CHESS CLUB (Tuesday – Grades K-5) Build your brainpower! Students will play chess, learning the basics, building on their game playing, and honing their individual chess skills. This unique instruction is supportive as students learn to play together, have fun, and build strategy and concentration. Students are also invited to attend weekend chess tournaments. My 10 year old daughter loves participating in Girl Scouts. When she asked about going to this camp I got her signed up right away. She had fun meeting other campers and she came back home with a vision of who she wants to be in her future. Then once camp is over, we will have a special Gallery Showing of all the artists pieces at the June Trolley Hop. An environment encouraging use of the imagination, learning to take care of our Earth and discovering everyone is an artist! This will be at our new facility at 2216 Frankfort Avenue.

Advocacy Training for Pennsylvania Youth Recovery Campaign - Philadelp
The Pennsylvania Youth Recovery Campaign and The Bridgeway School would like to formally announce that legislation is officially being sponsored in both the House of Representative (Rep. John Taylor –[R] Philadelphia) and the Senate (Sen. Pat Browne -[R] Pennsylvania) to promote recovery high schools in Pennsylvania. When enacted, this bill will create an alternate class of school designated Recovery High School. These schools will be suited to address the educational and recovery support needs of high school age/eligible youth dealing with substance use disorders in Pennsylvania. These schools will ensure that students receive the tools necessary to retain long term recovery, achieve academic greatness, and promote family inclusion, support, and overall wellness through education and recovery. We need your help to raise awareness for, and champion this cause on behalf of all Pennsylvania Youth. Please also join us for an Advocacy Training event on February 25th and 7pm at The Bridgeway School. Through this training we will equip all supporters and stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to advocate in support of this vital legislation. Hey, Karate kids are you ready to learn the KARATE creed? Well come along to throw some snowballs and learn the snowman stance!! It’s going to be a Hip-Hop fun time learning all about how you can be an awesome CHOPPER!!! Campers must be 3-8 years old and bathroom independent. Theme for camp this year is: Philippians 3:3 “For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.” We will explore 3 questions throughout the week. Rock instruments, vocals, songwriting, recordings, and CD design! An action-packed week for boys and girls. No previous experience necessary. Great for campers with Beginning Guitar experience! Campers will bring their own guitar or bass or we provide keyboard or drums. Led by Arts Center faculty in a friendly atmosphere where campers play in a band, learn and write songs, and perform in an All Camp Jam Concert on the final day at 3pm. Cactus Petes Saloon was the coolest place in town, but now its the home of the biggest brawl in the desert. Tumbleweeds blow, shots are fired, and the Stagecoach gang is riding into town. Strap on your cowboy boots and warm up your vocal chords, cause this week will be full of singing, dancing, and shoot-outs. Perfect for the young singer/dancer whos got a knack for causing trouble AND saving the day. A trip to Cactus Petes is impossible to forget.
