Loving Care "Kids for Kids" Campaign 5K &1 Mile Fun Run - Ottawa, OH
Come join the fun! It's a great way to be part of teaching children the importance of helping others while getting some exercise! This year’s event will be focused on helping others. Barrett Lammers, a preschool student here at Loving Care, was born with polycystic kidney disease. He had been doing well managing with this until a few months ago when an abnormal growth was found between his liver and pancreas called a choledochal cyst. This required him to have an extensive surgery and rehabilitation this spring. His prognosis is positive, however, he will need to have continued close monitoring throughout his entire life. We are planning a 5K Run, 1 Mile Fun Run and Diaper Dash with all proceeds from this event being donated to Barrett’s family to assist with medical expenses.

The Phone Bank will air live from Fox 61 and WCCT (CW) on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 beginning from 9a.m. to 10a.m. and then returning from 4p.m. to 7p.m. Your support of this campaign will help Hartford’s Camp Courant and Fox 61 further their missions to support education-based programs for children throughout the greater Hartford community. Our goal is to raise $100,000 during the live four-hour televised fundraiser, which will help to enhance the summer experience for nearly 1,000 Hartford children this year. We have a long standing, aligned and focused partnership with Fox 61 who is dedicated to making a positive difference. In this program, designed exclusively for teenagers, students will develop a new sense of confidence and empowering self-reliance as they explore nature, ancient skills, and the lore of the Native Americans. Wilderness Survival Skills are the core of this program. Students will learn numerous outdoor skills, such as Primitive fire-making, shelter building, safe water purification and how to identify wild edible and medicinal plants. From here we'll expand outward and introduce your teenagers to variety of nature awareness exercises. These lessons will engage and enhance all of their senses and heighten their level of Awareness for their entire lives. Teens will come away with a true understanding and respect for nature and life in this great program.

Please note: Applicable Discounts will be calculated automatically AFTER you hit the checkout button. Our Aventureros will put on their backpacks, gather their passports and off they will go on their Summer Classroom Adventure! This is a perfect way for current HoLa and other bilingual students to support the Spanish they have acquired and a wonderful way for incoming HoLa students to ease into a fun, stress-free Spanish immersion experience. The program will be overseen by HoLa Aftercare Director Margarita Garcia and HoLa faculty. Children will engage in multicultural games, physical activities, crafts, art, music, dance and other local adventures that will be aligned to the introduction and strengthening of Spanish Language Arts, creative writing and mathematics skills. Learn to throw webs like Spiderman, join the superheroes to save a princess, stop the worry monsters and more when you take magical adventures with your favorite superheroes. These exciting activity, relaxation, and mindfulness classes creatively engage the campers imaginations with exciting themes and superhero missions.
