This week long camp is home to children ages 5 to 16. My daughter spends 2 weeks of every summer at this camp. Counselors from all over the globe come to teach campers swimming, archery, exploring nature, digital photography, rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, survivor skills, leadership skills and horseback riding. A Stake Mini-Youth Conference will be held Friday, March 4 to Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Heber Valley Girl’s Camp. All youth ages 14-18 (by March 5th, 2016) who live in the Oquirrh Lake Stake boundaries are invited to attend. The theme is “Press Forward” which is attributed to our 2016 Worldwide Youth Theme “Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life” (2 Nephi 31:20). We are excited to invite the whole Alpha Omega Campus Ministry and the Junior and Seniors from the teen ministry to a Back to School Devotional. Beginning at 5:30pm the Campus Ministries will host a campus fair for the Juniors and Seniors to get information about the campuses in which they are interested. At 6:00pm we will start our devotional. We will have a time of worship, hear testimonies, and listen to the word of God being preached. The fair will continue afterwards. Join us for an inspirational time together.

Artists in Residence II with Nelli Shevelkina & Connie Pfeiffer (Ages 7-14) - Young People
Folk Art Around The World with Nellie Shevelkina Go Global! Learn about different cultures through their arts. We will travel from Africa to the Americas, Europe to Asia, Australia and in between discovering traditional folk arts from around the world. Explore the history, techniques, and special meanings of various crafts while noticing similarities and differences in their designs, patterns, and styles. We will create mosaics, painted and printed fabrics, sand paintings, mask making, paper maché figurines, paper cutouts, clay whistles, just to name a few. Students are encouraged to research their own cultural and ethnic backgrounds and proudly share these artistic traditions with the class. Fun with Metal with Connie Pfeiffer Make jewelry and mini-sculpture with copper sheet metal and wire to wear or hang. Stamp, fold, hammer, bend, cut, twist and even heat metal to create pendants, medallions and forms from nature such as pea pods and leaves. Students will explore using basic hand tools, especially hammers, mallets, cutters, files, pliers and torches (one-on-one with instructor) to create works in metal.
