Creative Drama Camp $185.00 Rising 1st-3rd June 20-24 8:30am-2:00pm In this camp will use traditional stories from around the world to help children understand the use of movement, voice, listening and concentration in creating characters for the stage. This is a developmentally appropriate introduction to theater arts especially designed for children ages 6-9. The camp will conclude with a special demonstration performance in which the children will show the skills they have developed during the week through some of their favorite stories. We will be distributing Blessing bags to the less fortunate at Fairmount Park in Riverside California. What would the Blessing Bags consist of? - Hygiene Products (no mouthwash) - Water Bottle - First Aid materials (no sharp objects) - Baby wipes - Wash cloth - Chapstick - Sunscreen - Nonperishable food items Who is responsible for providing blessing bags? Each student is encouraged to bring a blessing bag with them. You can trade in your bag for a Mercy Chronicles t-shirt on Friday night or Saturday morning before we head to the Park. Transportation: There will be a bus available for transportation to the park. Spaces will be available to those who pre-register first. Session 4 Half Day Seedlings - Hampshire College Farm Center
Seedlings is a 1-week summer camp for 3 and 4 year olds at the Hampshire College Farm Center. A small group of 8 children and an experienced teacher and assistant will gather each weekday for a hands-on exploration of farm and garden life. With the cozy farmhouse sun room as home base, the Seedlings will venture out to the barnyard, the childrens garden, and the larger farm fields and woods for a balance of work and play that meets individual needs. Girls in STEM Feb. Build-A-Thon - Keystone Science School Campus
February: Build-A-Thon At Keystone Science School, STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) is an integral part of every experience. The Girls in STEM program dives even deeper by exploring not only the STEM concepts in an empowering girls-only environment, but also highlighting real women currently working in STEM careers. This program builds leadership and collaboration between the girls involved as they engage in fun, hands-on activities that impart new skills and confidence in science, tech, engineering, and math - areas in which girls are inclined to be wallflowers. A key element of the program is a teaching technique called positive growth feedback in which "failure" is viewed as a necessary and even welcome step on the path to success. Research has shown that girls are especially receptive to this teaching technique and the scientific method is the ideal process for applying this technique to valuable learning. Girls in STEM will: Motivate and encourage participation and leadership in young females in STEM related fields. Our staff is made of several high school and college baseball and softball players who are great at teaching their sport and who make Diamond Sports Week extremely fun.
