Terrific Environment
FCYD Camp is proof positive that being diagnosed with diabetes means you have to live a sheltered life. We tried to tell that to our daughter all the time but she never really embraced the idea until she found herself surrounded by kids in her same situation. She felt very welcomed from day one and made all kinds of friends. I think she was just soooo happy to have someone her own age to talk to about what she goes through with diabetes. I get... Find out what makes the Summit County forests tick as they cycle through their succession. Learn about the effects of mountain pine beetle, fire, and human impact on our local environments and take a zipline tour through some of Colorados beautiful woodlands. Explore the world of forest management through the eyes of a miner on a mine tour and as an FDRD volunteer. So, make like a tree and leaf on this exciting celebration. Through the beautiful art of watercolors combined with watercolor pencils, children will express their creative ideas to write their own story, design their own characters and paint backgrounds to illustrate their very own storybook! The programs utilize an Edutainment (Education + Entertainment) approach, transforming the learning process into a game while introducing children to theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Each participant will discover new subjects and will build/play with (2) different models each day. Teaching is conducted using customized LEGO kits with motors, gears and batteries.
