New Jersey's Insurgent Youth join NYCOG Youth Camp - Matawan, NJ
Due to an administrative oversight on the part of Ministerio Bethel Internacional, we have been forced to modify our plans regarding this summer's youth camp. Although we had reserved the dates last September, somehow MBI has given away our reservation to another group. All that being said, we have decided that as opposed to trying to reschedule our own camp at this point, instead New Jersey's Insurgent Youth Camp will join force's with New York's Youth camp which is held at the same facility. However, as opposed to the camp being held July 5-9, it will now take place on August 8-13. The good news is that this change will result in a reduced price for all who attend. The set price for the camp is $225 and as opposed to our previous rate, the price will include an additional day at the campsite. As far as registration goes, all applications should still be sent to New Jersey Youth and Discipleship at 147 Lower Main Street, Matawan, NJ, 07747. Learn a new skill and develop a new hobby this summer! Each camper will have the opportunity to work with a variety of tools and materials and every boy will be provided personal guidance while working on two to three individual projects during this special one-week tutorial session. A variety of wood project ideas and wood species will be offered. Possible projects may include constructing a bookshelf, birdhouse, wooden clock, jigsaw puzzle and carving a bowl or candleholder on a wood lathe. Woodworking experience is not required, only a desire to learn new skills. This specialty camp came into being at the request of campers and parents and has limited enrollment available for instructional purposes. We have envisioned this workshop to have the following goals: 1. To provide a hands-on course that initiates the learning of a new skill during the summer and the development of a lifelong hobby. 2. To learn basic carpentry skills and the proper use of a variety of tools. 3. To encourage pride in ones work and craftsmanship through projects that a boy wants to take home. The Fitness and Character Education (FACE) program combines 25+ years training of Martial Arts, jumping rope, and juggling to guarantee results in agility, coordination, focus, and timing for todays youth. Sensei Kirk Farber incorporates building self-esteem and character education within every class session. Each session emphasizes the principles and concepts to enhance the individuals fitness skills while speaking on character traits. Camp will include the FACE class, outside activities, and agility/coordination training. Each week will have a different theme. Prizes will be earned at the end of each week. The completed the robots will then be brought to Webb Institute for a day of in-water testing and head-to-head competitions that determine how well the robots were constructed and how well the human operators can control their custom-built submersible seacraft.
