Summer Camps are no-frills, get-a-lot-done, fun-filled social events. We are trying something new this year! We will join Debi Morris at her campground, Traveler’s Woods. There will be no fee to crop and we will plan our potluck meals in advance. Camping is available – Campers with water/sewer/electric are $20.00/night; tents with electric plug are $10.00/night. Showers, a bathhouse, and a pool are available for campers. Optional Friday night add-on to camp. (Provide your own camper or tent, payment upon arrival.) Digital scrappers and card makers welcome at all events too! Join us for Saturday only or Sunday too.

Included are music lessons, a tee shirt decorating arts and craft session, a barbecue chicken dinner, a guest musical concert and a Sunday afternoon concert showcasing the children’s new/renewed accomplishments. Instructors are experienced musicians who give their time and positive energy to ensure that this event continues to enrich the lives of our young people. A summer program offered in partnership with the O. Henry Museum... We invite young readers to explore a fantastic novel, take it apart, play around in its pages, admire its sentences and characters and questions, and create new work based on the novel. This workshop is led by a Badgerdog teaching artist (professional writer), and Book Crushers will showcase their work for parents on the final day. In previous years we crushed on Wonder by R.J. Tech Explorers: Robotics and iPad® Stop-Motion Movies - Bethel Christian Center
Students explore robotics using LEGO® components and then use iPad®s and special effects apps to make a stop-motion movie. In the morning, campers build machines with LEGO® elements and then program and use them to uncover clues to solve a mystery. Theyll use motors to power projects and sensors to detect movement and trigger actions. Programming is easy with LEGO® WeDo® software - students drag and drop blocks on the screen to create the instructions to run their machines. Each student has their own kit and computer to use. Projects include building an airplane controlled through a keyboard, building a sensor-activated sliding door, making an amusement park ride controlled with a tilt sensor, and more. In the afternoon, students work in teams to create a stop-motion movie starring LEGO® minifigures and sets that they create using LEGO® components. Students record the movie frame-by-frame on an iPads®, add exciting titles, visual and sound effects, and background music in the Pinnacle Studio editing app! Teams choose the story and characters - it can be a comedy, or an adventure starring Scooby-Do®, a favorite superhero, animals, or Minecraft® characters. 206-466-6882

Back for its fifth year with some great new additions! Evenings will be filled with classic activities we all know and love--swimming, sports, challenge courses, campfires, Spirit-filled worship, along with some new extreme activities--while each day will be spent in service to the communities that surround us. Weve teamed up with local programs in and around our city of Lexington to embrace the young, love the marginalized, and serve the disadvantaged. Each day is filled with opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ (and weve also thrown in a few suprises!).
