Are you as inspired by the natural world as we are? Join us as we gently explore the trails of the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art in search of leaves, twigs, acorns, etc. so that we can create our own beautiful nature-inspired craft projects and works of art. Date: Thursday, August 18th 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. or Friday, August 19th 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Ages: 4 – 8 with an adult Instructors: Beth Sanders, Santino Lauricella NOTE: Choose ONE OF TWO sessions for this camp. Dave Parrish Memorial Youth Rugby Camp - West Saint Paul, MN
This is the first annual Dave Parrish Memorial Youth Rugby Camp! This is a non-contact rugby camp open to kids in middle school and below. The cost is $10 to help cover costs of renting the dome, and the first 50 registrants get a FREE rugby ball. While this is run by Eagan Rugby's Middle School program, this camp is open to kids in surrounding areas. Dave passed away far too soon in January 2015. But before he did he made a lasting impact upon our Eagan Rugby program. He loved working with kids and introducing this wonderful sport to them. Thus, in his honor (and thanks to his memorial foundation), we are thrilled to present this opportunity to kids.

Therapeutic Dog Reading - YSWPCS
The main objective of this program is to provide a relaxed and dog-friendly atmosphere, which allows students to practice the skill of reading. Many of the children chosen for this program have difficulties reading and as a result have developed self-esteem issues. They are often self-conscious when reading aloud in front of other classmates. By sitting down next to a dog and reading to the dog, all threats of being judged are put aside. The child relaxes, pats the attentive dog, and focuses on the reading. Reading improves because the child is practicing the skill of reading, building self-esteem, and associating reading with something pleasant. In addition to time reading with Therapy Dogs students will also have the opportunity to read to stuffed animals, use the RAZ Kids computer reading program and engage in other supplemental activities as chosen by the teachers. NEEDS : There will be a limit of 10 students allowed in the club. Struggling readers will be given first priority in joining the club and then it will be opened up to other students if not enough struggling readers apply. Campers will receive daily lunch in Loyolas dining hall, as well as time each day for swimming in Loyolas pool.
