23rd Annual Teen World Bible Camp - Clinton, PA
Teen World MInistries will be holding its 23rd Annual Bible Camp the week of June 5-11, 2016 at Promise Camp & Retreat Center in Clinton, PA. Our camp theme for the week is "Jesus Christ: Born, Crucified, Risen!" with Luke 24:45-47 being our theme verses. We will be memorizing and studying the Book of Luke (ESV 2011 Text) chapters 2:1-38, 23:26-56, and 24:1-53.. Teen World Bible Camp is open to all youth entering grades 4-12 in the 2016-2017 school year and 2016 high school graduates. Registration Fee for camp is $150 . “Teen Sexism, Self-image and School Success” with Campbell Leaper, PhD
Adolescents today face the competing demands of doing well in school, being popular, developing close relationships with friends and romantic partners, and appearing sexually attractive to others. Each of these challenges is affected by stereotypes about what is considered desirable or undesirable for each gender. Sexism occurs when these stereotypes constrain the self-image and aspirations of girls and boys. What are the most powerful influences in teen sexism – family, peers, school, music, social media. How are these influences and the stereotypes they promote affecting teen relationships and school success? Do you worry about their effects on your children? Campbell Leaper, Professor and Department Chair of Psychology at UC Santa Cruz, and co-founder of the Gender Development Research Conference, is an expert on gender ideologies, self-concept, sexism, and gender bias in schools. He will talk about the ways that gender stereotypes affect girls’ and boys’ self-image, relationships, and school success. Most importantly, he will discuss what adults can do to mitigate sexism and the negative cultural influences in our kids’ lives. 04 PG Rocket Volleyball Camp 01 Ages 6-12 - High School
Participants will receive instruction in the basic skills of passing, setting, serving, spiking, blocking, defense, and offense. This camp will help prepare those interested in recreational or middle school or high school volleyball. Enter High School through door #24 and proceed to the gym. In order to register for this activity, you must first click to open the participation waiver and then place your initials in the left box to confirm that you read and agree. Wildheart Sacred Artists know their nature both within and without. Newborns arrive into this world with a purity and clarity so intense that it is near impossible not to fall into some divine joy when looking into their eyes. As they grow older, this clarity begins to fade as they develop a healthy sense of who they are and begin to define the world they are perceiving. At Wildheart, there is nothing more important to us than returning the power and clarity to childrens eyes. Nature is the perfect setting for inviting kids to return to their inner truths. In this centering and empowering week of camp we will be exploring mindfulness, meditation, dance, sacred art, earth skills, music, compassion, and Earth-based ceremonies. Children will come away with practice choosing kindness over anger, peace over anxiety, and love over fear. They will also come away with a unique altar cloth dyed using local plants and leaf prints. Second year students also receive a surprise item for their altar that represents a positive quality they have offered to the camp. Triple Threat Musical Theater (July 5) - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
Acting, singing, and dancing are all aspects of musical theatre, master them all, and you become a triple threat. This camp will help build these talents through the firsthand experience of performing in a musical. This firsthand experience will provide campers with the knowledge they need to participate in a theatrical production at their school or in the community and allow your child to get ahead of their performing peers.
