Incoming 7th and 8th Graders will learn the basic usage and safety of some hand tools, power tools and machinery (routers, drill press, scroll saw, spindle sander, disc sander, palm sander, cordless drill, lathe). All activities will be demonstrated and supervised by Mr. Caris, the current Woodworking teacher at NBJH. Students will choose a project from a list based on their experience. The list will be sent home in the FIRST week of the course. Examples include a cutting board, wood bowl, routed sign, garden tray, gumball machine, and bag toss game. Odyssey Teen Camp get together in Central Park, Sunday, December 4th from about 12:00-3:00! .... This feels like a really good time to connect with old and new friends and just be together for a few hours. I know many of you live too far to get to NYC for a few hours, but you will be there in spirit. We are going to meet in Central Park at a place called Arthur Ross Pinetum. It's kind of a playground, and small field, that is fenced. It's on the West side of the Park, near 84th Street and Central Park West. It will probably be chilly, so dress nice and warm. It won't be a big deal, we will hang out , eat donuts and pizza, and other healthy food options. Campers, ages 7-13, will explore the artist Vincent Van Gogh all week through paintings and other related activities. They will paint a 16x20 painting each day M-Th, and work on a 24-36 self portrait through the week. The week will end with an art show Friday evening from 5-6pm. Using slabs and colorful decoration make a Fairy Door to attract wee beings to the Art Center! The Fairy Doors will be installed on the Adrian Center for the Arts campus and premiered at our Spring Fling on May 1, 1-5pm. You will be able to take your door home the week after the event to install at your house, garden, or favorite location. All materials and firing supplied. 517-265-1651

Junior Soccer Shots Girls/Boys - Sanford Day Camp
Soccer camp will be held under the directions of Soccer Shots™, a leader in youth soccer development in the DE and PA area under the direction of C.C. Colasante. CC was an all-state player for Salesianum, All-American while playing at LaSalle, and also played professionally for the Philadelphia Kixx. Players will be taught the fundamentals of shooting and passing. Mornings will consist of skill sessions and afternoons will be occupied with competitive games and scrimmages. Teamwork around the net will be emphasized. ------------- LOCATION: Sanford School. Campers will do observational drawings, landscape paintings and create their very own ‘magical garden. Through nature walks they will discover garden sculptures and learn about patterns in the natural world. This year campers will also have a special opportunity to contribute to the Hermitages very own vegetable garden! Allow your artist to discover magic in the Hermitage Gardens!
