Its a week of water-filled fun! Plan to get wet (and muddy) as we explore our bit of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Well compare fresh and saltwater habitats through hands-on experiences like sampling for water-dwelling animals and performing simple water tests. Field trips will take us to see where our water comes from, how water is treated after we use it, and on a visit to the Chesapeake Bay. Well also spend time boating and fishing as we learn all about water, the plants and animals that live there, and how to better care for our watershed. YSE Sports Camp is a program where youths can learn great spring activities, like creating fun Easter eggs crafts and Easter hunt, baking cakes. Youth will be able to enjoy great outdoor and indoor games like football, basketball, soccer, playground for younger campers. Participants must be able to swim 50 yards of front crawl as well as 50 yards of breaststroke in good form. American Red Cross Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors will lead participants through two water sessions per day which will include group lectures on Aquatics Safety as well as introductions to Aquatic Sports. On the last day, participants will have the opportunity to use our giant inflatables and will take part in a Junior Lifeguarding Competition. Students construct the motorized projects, then customize the design, and play with and share ideas with other campers. Builders are sure to have the force with them in this camp!Students take home a LEGO® mini-build and camp T-shirt. Students do not take home the LEGO® projects or pieces from the class This is an afternoon half day camp for 5-7 year olds. Nearly one billion people on our planet lack access to clean water. Thats one billion people who cant drink from a faucet, shower or cook a meal without risk of illness - or worse! In this course, students will collaborate with a Global Partner Student from a developing country to help quench the thirst of the world. Through video message exchanges they will learn about each other and explore how water is used in each others culture, study the chemical properties of water and the water cycle, and then use the engineering design process to build, test and tweak biodomes, water towers, and water filtration systems to better understand how water systems can be polluted and purified. As their understanding of the subject matter grows, students will work closely with their Global Partners to develop a hands-on research project that shows the water problems each of their countries face while sharing practical ways to address these problems and help bring clean water to the world!
