Have a budding thespian in your family? This two-week program will give kids an opportunity to explore the multifaceted world of drama. Students are sure to have a blast playing daily improvisational games. After learning some basic acting skills, they will get hands-on experience developing a character. They will also be able to try their hands at many of the various aspects of theatre, including directing, stagecraft, costume design, stage make-up, playwriting, and… stage combat! (Dont worry parents. Its just pretend!) Finally, they will have a chance to show off their skills at the conclusion of the camp in a performance for their families and friends. 301-994-3080

While some of these programs do provide valuable advice, most of them are filled with poor choices that, if followed, will get you injured or killed in a real emergency. Without proper training, separating the fact from fiction can be a difficult task. Our primary focus this week is to teach participants the practical skills that will save them in a true emergency. While a number of Traditional Skills will be introduced, our goal this week is to provide participants with a pragmatic skill set. For instance, spending five hours building a lean-to when it gets dark in 20 minutes is not a practical choice. Trying to build a bow-drill fire kit from scratch without a knife and without properly seasoned wood in the damp environment of the Pacific Northwest is rarely practical. Although those types of skills will be demonstrated, we will challenge you to perfect the basics first – like carrying a small fire steel and a couple of cotton balls...

Summer Stretch Yoga Camp: Circus Theme - Marine Park Building
Weekly Theme: Circus Balance like a palm tree, roar like a lion, and stretch like a giraffe in this fun-filled yoga camp! Camp begins with a 40 minute class where students learn new poses and breathing techniques each day on an imaginary yoga adventure. Class ends by relaxing with peaceful music. After class, the excitement continues with yoga stories and games, a break for lunch, and a creative take-home art activity. Art projects are yoga themed and will relate to the poses learned that day. Fun activities throughout the week include parachute games, treasure hunts, outdoor craft time, face painting, and more! Yoga has been shown to improve focus, confidence, and coordination in children. Please bring a snack, lunch, and water. Campers engage in activities that revolve around weekly themes in this full-day program. Arts and crafts, sports and games are part of the fun.
