The Founders and Evolution of Summer Resorts & Kids Camps - Readfield,
Four years ago Charles L. Day and Dale Potter-Clark began the process of gathering information for "Founders and Evolution of Summer Resorts..." right here at a Maranacook Community Education class. Fifty or more enthusiastic people gathered that evening to share stories and to learn about the resorts, hotels and kids’ camps that have existed in this immediate area. After years of conducting personal interviews, making site visits and doing exhaustive research Charles and Dale have published a 356 page book packed with 220+ vintage photos and information about more than forty establishments that have existed on the four lakes. Thrown in for good measure is “The Larches” on “Lake Myra” in Readfield. Included is the history of the railroad, steamboats and the trolley in this area as well as the various establishments, founders and directors. Dale will first talk about the process and some discoveries made while researching and writing the book and following this she will do a reading. She will be available to sell and sign books after the presentation. Potter-Clark will be offering three classes the spring of 2017 (Mar, Apr, May) at $12.50 each or $30 for all three. Proceeds will help fund a "Museum in the Streets" in Readfield.

Lacrosse Camp for Girls - Germantown Friends School
The GFS Lacrosse Camp offers the ideal way for players of all levels to improve their individual skills, have fun, and meet new friends. This camp is designed for players who want to work on fundamental skill-building with a major emphasis on stick work, scoring, positional play, and game concepts. Newcomers are welcome! Coach Katie Bergstrom Mark is a former Division I lacrosse player and current Head Lacrosse Coach and Athletic Director at GFS. More than 45 of her players have gone on to play collegiate lacrosse at different schools, including MIT, Smith, Penn, Bard, Stanford, Wesleyan, Vermont, Davidson, Bowdoin and more. Our coaching staff consists of current varsity players and collegiate athletes who demonstrate and share first-hand knowledge of the skills they developed during their summers at GFS Camps! Our primary goal is to build confidence and deepen players passion for sports! Swims at the Germantown Cricket Club add to the summertime fun! You will learn to build cool electronic projects using Arduino Micro controller board and make your projects interactive by writing simple programmatic logic using Arduino programming environment. Each student will get Arduino kit along with their project to take home on the last day of the camp. ** Arduino is the coolest and most popular DIY electronics kit today for kids, teens and even for adults. It is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on a very simple microcontroller board, and a simple development environment for writing software for the Arduino platform.
