But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 God's people will never be perfect this side of heaven (Romans 3:9-12). Nevertheless, we are called to be holy because God is holy (Leviticus 11:44)... which sounds impossible. But the word "holiness" in Hebrew literally means "set-apartness." God isn't demanding impossible perfection. He calls every believer to live as uniquely separate (Leviticus 20:26), devoted to Him (1 Kings 8:53) and completely different from the world (1 Peter 1:13-16). It should be obvious to anyone who sees us that we are set apart (John 15:5-8). Jesus came to break our sin cycle and restore humanity's connection with our Creator God (2 Corinthians 5:19-21). Placing saving faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ's death on the cross justifies us before God (Romans 5:6-11). That incredible forgiveness and grace compels the true disciple toward righteousness, walking in God's ways not because we earn His grace, but because our love and thanksgiving manifests itself as obedience (1 John 5:1-5). Students will create stories, dioramas, miniature stage sets and scenes depicting real life places or imaginary characters to sculpt the wildest of things. Enter the time machine once again and leave earthly worries behind because there is no time like the future to discover what awaits us in other galaxies. Its a strange world of changing realities and campers learn all about how to survive by using their senses. Campers transform into aliens with unique features and devices that help them thrive in outer realms of space. Campers play active & quiet games, create, sing songs, act, dance, cook and discover the joys of learning Spanish while playing sports too. Theme vocabulary includes colors, counting, verbs, nouns, adjectives to describe the power of our senses. Celebration Day Wednesday (participation optional) Campers express their alien spirit with their absurd alien inspired hairdo. During camp choice time campers find their alien ‘relatives according to hairstyle and create their unique alien group ‘Survival Guide. Notes: There may be options for arranging late pick up the same day. You will be notified of these options the week prior to camp start. Weeks 5-8 PM: 420 Racing Program (Session 2) - NESS
Come learn what it takes to be successful in fleet and team racing (the fun and challenging form of sailing as a team sport). Our experienced race coaches will challenge students to perfect their boat handling techniques, with the skipper and crew developing and refining coordination and mutual reliance. Students will work on improving and refining their boat-handling skills and developing together as a two-person team. Students will be challenged to perfect their upwind and downwind sailing techniques and will learn to better use hiking straps, tiller extensions, and sail controls and will develop their spinnaker and trapeze skills. Students will expand their knowledge of wind, weather, and tides, and will work on basic racing techniques and rules. Students will be encouraged to compete in the many local 420 regattas that we tow boats to by water. All students will be under the supervision of our race coaches in class and at local regattas. In addition to fleet racing, coaches will teach the techniques, tactics and rules of team racing through practice drills and a practice-race format. The top students from this class will represent NESS in the ECSA All-Star Regatta, a college sailing formatted event hosted each year at... 860-535-9362
