LATEST CAMPS NEWS: James and the Giant Peach Musical - Villa Academy
Join Shea Salyer and Jacob Lucero for this years 3rd-8th grade musical, Roald Dahls James and the Giant Peach, Jr. This musical world-premiered at Seattle Childrens Theater in 2013. Auditions for lead roles will be Wednesday, January 13th from 2:15pm-6:00pm with rehearsals beginning Tuesday, January 26th, 3:00-5:30pm. Rehearsals are every Tuesday and Thursday that school is in session with performances from May 4-7th, 2016. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion which results in a tremendous peach - and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities, but after it falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements. Thanks to James quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family. The dangerous voyage is a success, but the adventure takes a whole new twist once they land on the Empire State Building. Specialty Camp Week 1: Chopped - Westminster School
Vendor: Tiny Chefs Chopped! Never have food challenge reality shows been so popular and Chopped! is a favorite here at Tiny and Gourmet Chefs! We like it so much we decided to base a whole week long camp on the concept. Our version has the added twist of focusing on different cuisines every day of camp. So, each day the Tiny and Gourmet Chef campers will be presented with a basket with 3 or 4 ingredients, which reflect these different cuisines—French, Italian, Mexican, Asian and All-American. Using those ingredients and working within those cuisines, they will challenge themselves to make mouthwatering specialties, traditional favorites and explore new ingredients, tastes and combinations. *9 child minimum, 20 maximum (703) 340-7268
420 Race Team M-F ($670 for 4 weeks, Members) - Nantucket Yacht Club
Please select a minimum of four weeks. The 420 Race Team is the most advanced program for junior sailors. Sailors are taught the fundamentals of sailboat racing, including but not limited to boat speed, boat handling, strategy and tactics, and team racing. Training as a team is strongly stressed. The team is reserved for those sailors who want to really improve their racing skills, and are selected by the race team coaches.
