Adventure Camp - Week 3 (4 Days Only) - The Greenwell Foundation
Adventure Camp (ages 8-12 by first day of camp session). This week, Camp runs for 4 days only (Tuesday to Friday) Why is Adventure Camp different? Campers are provided the opportunity to explore further into the park with longer hikes, shelter building, and learning how to build a campfire – and then Smores! Part of Adventure Camp is letting the group direct what activities they would like to do by coming up with new and exciting adventures. The staff has the freedom to be creative when making these fun adventures come to life. Campers will have an opportunity to kayak twice during the week, including a visit to the Hollywood Oyster Company. They will create and run their own unique obstacle course, go fishing and crabbing from the pier, and build their own boats out of recycled materials and test to see if they are sea-worthy. Mid-week, campers will hike to the Manor House area where they can build forts with bamboo, explore the gardens, play water games and capture the flag, visit the Barn and participate in our Nature Time program. The Spring Eagles Fitness Program (03/14/2016 - 06/02/2016) is a gym membership open to all LAMC Students 16 years old and up. Must be enrolled in at least 1 unit in the current semester to qualify for the student discount. We are literally creating a full-immersion musical experience that can be the ground work for further musical studies, both vocal and instrumental! We will be using dance to both express music and understand lyrics; we will explore both folk and classical music pieces. Additional experiences include acting with puppets & costumes; expressive dance with hand-dyed silk scarves and ribbon sticks; and beginning instrumental play on drums and pitched instruments (xylophones, glockenspiels, ukuleles where appropriate).
