LATEST CAMPS NEWS: FUNdamental Youth Football Camp - SHS Stadium
The Seymour Football FUNdamental Youth Football Camp will take place May 25-27th at Bulleit Stadium (SHS Campus). Wednesdays camp will be from 4-6PM, while Thursday and Fridays camp will be from 8:00-10:00AM. The camp is open to any student who will be in Kindergarten through 6th grade during the 2016-2017 school year. Pre-registered campers will receive a camp shirt. Walk-up registrations will be accepted. However, walk-up registration will not be guaranteed a camp shirt. Camp shirts will be issued to walk-up registrations on a first come, first served basis. The Seymour Football FUNdamental Youth Camp will introduce and refine the basic fundamental skills of the game of football. This is a NON-CONTACT camp. Proper techniques of blocking, throwing, catching, ball carrying, ball-security and route-running will be taught and developed. Safe and proper tackling techniques will be taught using padded practice dummies. No tackling of any players will take place during this camp. The emphasis of this camp is to develop basic skills and to have fun while learning the game of football. Honors Pre-Calculus - Hopkins Campus
This course is open to Blake students who have successfully completed Honors Algebra II and who seek to enroll in AP Calculus AB after completing Honors Geometry; Blake students who have successfully completed Honors Algebra II and Honors Geometry and who seek to enroll in AP Calculus AB; Students from outside Blake who seek to complete the equivalent of a full-year Honors Pre-Calculus course during the summer. They must possess a strong foundation in algebra because the course contains advanced material and moves at a rapid pace; it is not recommended for remedial purposes. Before registering, Blake students must obtain their teachers permission to advance, as indicated by a signed Mathematics Acceleration Contract. Successful advancement requires a grade of B or higher on each of the comprehensive exams given during the summer course. This course emphasizes functions and their characteristics. Topics include: function notation and transformations; combinations and compositions of functions; linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions; and analytical trigonometry. In addition, sequences, series, parametric equations and limits are introduced in preparation for calculus.
