Weekly Theme: Circus Balance like a palm tree, roar like a lion, and stretch like a giraffe in this fun-filled yoga camp! Camp begins with a 40 minute class where students learn new poses and breathing techniques each day on an imaginary yoga adventure. Class ends by relaxing with peaceful music. After class, the excitement continues with yoga stories and games, a break for lunch, and a creative take-home art activity. Art projects are yoga themed and will relate to the poses learned that day. Fun activities throughout the week include parachute games, treasure hunts, outdoor craft time, face painting, and more! Yoga has been shown to improve focus, confidence, and coordination in children. Please bring a snack, lunch, and water. This summer, LightUp is pleased to be partnering with the Ann Arbor Public School Recreation & Education Department to bring an exciting new bike camp to Ann Arbor. This camp gives individuals with special needs the thrill of independently riding a two-wheel bicycle. Developed by iCan Shine Inc., this program is offered through a 5-day summer camp. Camp runs during the week of June 27th for 75 minutes per day, there are 5 sections of camp to choose from. Monday- Friday , 75 minutes per day. This summers (2016) camp is geared specifically to the needs of youth diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. To apply, complete an application with the Ann Arbor Public School Recreation and Education Department. LightUp will provide a limited number of scholarships to families who may qualify based on financial need. Follow this link to apply to LightUps financial scholarship. Strap on your cowboy boots and warm up your vocal chords, cause this week will be full of singing, dancing, and shoot-outs. Perfect for the young singer/dancer whos got a knack for causing trouble AND saving the day. A trip to Cactus Petes is impossible to forget.
