Week 5- ESE- LEGO WeDo IStories - Eagle Springs Elementary School
TECH IT OUT- Robotics I-Stories or Interactive Stories is a hands-on minds on learning experience that enhances students reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through project-based learning and STEM Literacy. STEM literacy relates to a students ability to understand and apply concepts from science, technology, engineering and mathematics in order to solve complex problems. Campers will use LEGO WeDo to constructing their own stories with over 20 main characters models featuring working motors and sensors to choose from; code their models; and explore a series of cross-curricular, theme-based activities that develop their literacy skills of reading, writing, designing, speaking and listening. TECH IT OUT- I-Stories culminated in a high tech share fair where students set up a display of their models and present their computer animated interactive stories to their learning community and families. 8322080445.0

For two weeks, your child will be immersed in the world of clay. Campers will learn everything from prehistoric clay working methods, to the modern work of artistic ceramics, and everything in between. The first week is devoted to developing skills using the pottery wheel, sculpting by hand, as well as learning technical aspects of clay including where it comes from, how its used, how its recycled and turned into a finished piece. During the second week, campers will explore different glazing and firing processes including everything that goes into building, loading and firing a traditional Japanese Raku kiln. Campers explore science, arts and crafts, math, environmental education, computer keyboarding and software, and geocaching each week. In addition, campers will learn the importance of teamwork and charity as they join the other Hawks Haven campers on field trips when appropriate.
