It is estimated that 60% of the terminology college students will face come from words formed from ancient Greek and Latin affixes and root words. Knowing how to break down a word which has been formed from Greek or Latin can help a student not only build a working vocabulary, but also help a student construct a basic meaning for a new or unfamiliar word. Students who learn this skill see their vocabularies grow and their anxiety lessen. As students who enter college are faced with not only increased amounts of reading, but also increased difficulty in those readings, having the skill to navigate these readings, assignments, and exams makes academic success much more easily attainable. Lou Groza Tackle Skills Camp - This camp is designed to introduce participants to the skills, drills, terminology and safety aspects of tackle football. Cost $30.00 ? Includes a Football 8u (7 & 8 Year Olds) - April 23 & 24 from 3 - 4:30pm LOCATION Berea Recreation Center
Audition-Only College Level Teen Acting Intensive with Special Guest Instructors - Arts Effect Downtown
** PLEASE NOTE: You must audition and be accepted into this class BEFORE you register. This college-level acting workshop lead by Katie Cappiello and Meg McInerney along with Tisch School of The Arts faculty guests will focus on intense scene study and character development. Students will be challenged by advanced sense memory, improvisation, and text analysis exercises as they prepare scenes to be presented at the end of the workshop. Students will be assigned and emailed a scene prior to the workshop. This 5-day master class will require students to not only work in class on their pieces but also independently with scene partners outside of class – as they would in any theater arts college program. The week long day camp offers a wide variety of sports and activities for campers to participate in. Activities included are: basketball, swimming, soccer, volleyball, tennis, ping pong, kick ball, arts and crafts, and others. All activities take place on the beautiful Hayward campus of Cal State East Bay. A daily lunch is provided and if there are any dietary needs just let us know and we can accommodate your camper. The only equipment that your camper will need to bring are: swim suit, towel, goggles (if preferred), snacks, and shoes to be active in (sandals are highly discouraged). Children at the beginning and beginning intermediate levels may enroll. Coach Lori is highly skilled at teaching and working with children at their appropriate chess playing levels. Children will learn the basic rules of chess then practice through friendly games. 206-957-1533

Girls entering grades 8 through 10 in Fall 2016 serve as assistant staff at Day Camp, working with Unit Leaders to supervise campers. Any applicant who has not completed the Diamond Crest AIT Training will be placed in the AIT unit to complete training. Please note, girls must attend camp all days to complete the AIT program. Girls who were AITs last year but did not attend all days of camp must register as an AIT again this year. Girls entering 10th grade who have been an Aide for 2 years may also request to be a Leader in Training (LIT) and work in a unit with two adult leaders if they have completed AIT training and have been an Aide for two years. Aides and AITS may camp overnight twice during camp. July 26 is the Aides-in-Training initiation ceremony and July 27 is the all-camp overnight for girls entering grade 4 or higher.
