Kevin Mcgeehans Summer Basketball Overnight Camp is a great opportunity for boys ages 8-18 to experience 4 full days of fun and basketball at Campbells beautiful basketball facilities. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in many team building activities, individual skill development, as well as compete in games against campers of their age group. The focus of our Campbell camps is always on fundamentals, teamwork, and enjoying the game of basketball. In On Stage: Spotlight, everyone is a star! Our two week camp is designed to allow students the opportunity to dive into performance and design/construction aspects of theatre by working on an abridged production. This year, students will perform 5-7 musical numbers with corresponding scenework from the Broadway hit, Matilda, based on Roald Dahls beloved book. Well start each day with physical, vocal, imagination & focus building warm-ups. Heres what well be doing: * * creating & developing characters * * rehearsing scenes/songs * * blocking/choreographing musical numbers * * learning music * * set design and scene painting * * designing/building props and costumes * * playing drama games * * getting to know the theatre space and theatre terminology * Our goal is to have every student on stage as much as possible, every student engaged in the creative process, every student proud discovering their design potential, every student proud of their work. Campers will be grouped according to age/grade, height, and ability level. Outdoor exploration and basics of ecology are the focus of this week. Well explore the woods, prairie and wet areas. Campers will roll logs looking for slugs and centipedes and learn why dark, damp places are important. Theyll wade in the water to net tadpoles and frogs - discovering that muddy and polluted water are different. Well crawl through the tall grasses to get a bugs eye view of the world. This is a hands-on, mind-on, and mud-on camp! A detailed letter will be sent prior to camp. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please be sure to bring a water bottle, snack, and apply sunscreen.
