Alice is a fun, innovative, and educational software from Carnegie Mellon Institute, designed to expose students to object-oriented programming. Using a gallery of 3D characters and scenery, Alice allows students to learn fundamental programming concepts in the context of creating animated stories, movies, simple games, and even virtual pets! In Alice, 3-D objects (e.g., people, animals, and vehicles) populate a virtual world and students animate the objects and program social interactions between characters. In Alices interactive interface, students drag and drop graphic tiles to create a program, where the instructions correspond to standard statements in a production oriented programming language, such as Java, C++, and C#. Alice allows students to immediately see how their animation programs run, enabling them to easily understand the relationship between the programming statements and the behavior of objects in their animation. Kids Loving to Learn
I sent my teenager to the Taft Summer School in Watertown, CT this past summer and I am so glad I did! She was able to get intensive learning in a school environment, but it wasn't school. It was more fun and had a lot of extras, so she was able to get the best of both worlds. The teachers are excited to teach and that’s why the campers learn so much. Teen Script Writing & Directing Camp - Seattle, WA
This summer camp is for teens 13 - 17, who want to learn how to create a production ready short script. Students will be paired in groups of two and will work collaboratively in creating a shootable three to five page script. Students who participate in TheFilmSchool Camp will receive guaranteed admission into the SIFF Teen Production Camp (separate registration and fee through SIFF Education). Scripts from the TheFilmSchool Camp will be chosen for production in the SIFF Teen Production Camp and will be shot at Seattle Center. Date: August 15 - August 19.
