Shakespeare in Performance - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This class is designed for 5th-9th grade students. Why Shakespeare? Why not! The stories are compelling and exciting. The characters thrilling and interesting. In the play well be working on this winter, they are also very comical! A Midsummer Nights Dream may be 450 years old, but its as funny today as when it was first performed in 1605. Under the guidance of Heather Sanderson, participants will present an abridged version of the play for a main stage presentation at the Annual LTA Showcase (April 1st & 2nd). During the course of the session, youngsters will learn acting methods naturally through a variety of theatre games, improvisation exercises and practical performance. INSTRUCTOR HEATHER SANDERSON studied classical theatre at RADA in London and prior to moving to Alexandria acted extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area. As "Miss Heather", she is known locally for instilling a love of theatre - in particular Shakespeare - into the hearts of children. Her youth Shakespeare troupes have performed in D.C. and in the U.K. and her privately coached monologue students have performed at the Shakespeare Theatre, the Fords Theatre and numerous community and childrens theatres in the area. JUMP START SPORTS- ALL PRO FOOTBALL CAMP(FULL-DAY) - Ben Robertson Community Center
The All Pro Football Camp teaches campers the basic fundamentals of football in an atmosphere that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork and the joy of sports. This camp is ideal for children who have never played organized football, as well as those who have played youth football for several years. In addition to learning fundamentals, techniques and strategies of the sport, campers will participate in flag football games every day as well as fun games and contests such as ?Punt, Pass, and Kick? and ?NFL Fast Football?. All equipment will be provided. Join anytime during the week (fee will be pro-rated). Multi-Camp Discount: Register for two or more full-day Jump Start Sports Camps and receive a $15 discount off the registration fee for the second and each subsequent camp. Supplies: Campers should bring a packed lunch with a beverage, snacks and plenty of water each day. All campers should arrive at camp with sunscreen already applied, as well as with additional sunscreen, as needed. We recommend a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Week 3: Visual Art Program - The MacDuffie School
The visual art program will give your child the opportunity to explore artistic expression through visual media. We encourage and welcome all ages and ability levels, providing an environment supporting each individual artist. Friday afternoons will feature an exhibition of each artists favorite masterpieces in a gallery open to fellow camp-goers, friends, and family. TT Nurture In Nature Youth Camp - Tuolumne Trails
Nurture In Nature is a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization whos mission is to enrich and empower the lives of children and adults with disabilities by connecting them to nature. We are excited to partner with Camp Tuolumne Trails this summer and offer sponsorship for 20-30 children between the ages of 5-13 years to attend camp. We believe in creating an environment conducive for healthy, natural exploration of the outdoors, therefore we sponsor a support person to attend camp with our campers. Support personnel can be a parent, caretaker, or sibling familiar to the camper to help ease the transition to the outdoors. Our services focus on children residing in Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Mariposa and San Joaquin counties.
