Scientists in this class will get to know first-hand that summer is the best time of year to study matter. We will learn about how clouds forms and use air resistance to slow down an egg dropped from 13 feet. Tiny Cartesian divers show us how air behaves under pressure, well figure out how to get an egg into a bottle without breaking it and study heat transfer while we turn liquids into tasty treats! Keep your kids busy and happy during Winter Break! The Vail Recreation District's Winter Break Camp provides children 5 - 12 and grades K - 5 with a variety of fun activities and winter outings. The camp is based out of the Red Sandstone Elementary School gymnasium in Vail. The cost is $40 if registered by December 14th or $45 if registered after December 14th. Youth Summer Circus Camp! - Austin, TX
We are so excited to be launching our brand new youth program with 2 exciting new offerings, Elemental Circus Camp and Sunday open level youth classes. Sign up for one or both weeks of Elemental Circus Camp this summer. Youth of ages 6-16 will undergo a circus adventure including age and skill appropriate lessons in performance, aerial arts, tumbling, balance and coordination, juggling, dance and magic. Youth will be grouped by age, and do not need to have any previous circus experience. Shooting, Scoring, & Conditioning Camp The full spectrum of the RMHS developed stickhandling progression from basic dribbling to advanced puck control concepts such as puck protection and creating space will be the foundation for this camp. Also covered in depth during the stickhandling portion will be passing lanes, vision, play away from the puck, support, and the proper execution of advanced fakes and dekes. All conditioning drills will be based on the European Training Method of incorporating pucks into all skating drills to ensure proper puck control skill and habit development. Fundamental knowledge of how to properly train ones body for athletic competition will be discussed, stressing proper work to rest ratios, hydration, and optimal physical conditioning. Advanced powerskating drills will also be included, focusing on speed and power development while conditioning. ATTENTION GOALTENDERS - Every RMHS camp will offer professional goaltending instruction from one of our professional goaltending coaches. Struggling with basic math computation? This class is designed to help close the gap to success with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using manipulatives to strengthen concepts. This camp is appropriate for students with remedial skills. Two separate classes are offered: 1st - 3rd Grade & 4th-6th Grade *Please note: Students who are registered for a morning and afternoon camp within the same week are invited to stay for FREE supervised lunch and recess between 11:30 am-12:30 pm.
