Would be an ok camp if you want your child hiking trails covered in trash & broken bottles. From one year to the next, the Y staff does nothing to clean up trash, fallen trees, glass. Last year a horse died on camp property. For what you pay to send your child to Camp Wijiwagan, I say just take them to the dump for a hike.... Read More...

Learn a new skill and develop a new hobby this summer! Each camper will have the opportunity to work with a variety of tools and materials and every boy will be provided personal guidance while working on two to three individual projects during this special one-week tutorial session. A variety of wood project ideas and wood species will be offered. Possible projects may include constructing a bookshelf, birdhouse, wooden clock, jigsaw puzzle and carving a bowl or candleholder on a wood lathe. Woodworking experience is not required, only a desire to learn new skills. This specialty camp came into being at the request of campers and parents and has limited enrollment available for instructional purposes. We have envisioned this workshop to have the following goals: 1. To provide a hands-on course that initiates the learning of a new skill during the summer and the development of a lifelong hobby. 2. To learn basic carpentry skills and the proper use of a variety of tools. 3. To encourage pride in ones work and craftsmanship through projects that a boy wants to take home. Grades 7-12 PERSONALIZED TECHNIQUE CAMP (Tech) 4 Day Option The Personalized Technique Camp is specifically designed for junior and senior high wrestlers with little to moderate experience. Our technique curriculum is carefully structured to present the most effective scoring techniques from all three positions in a systematic fashion to maximize retention. Techniques will be shown in a progressive sequence to promote learning and understanding of what works at all levels of competition. The wrestlers will have a designated coordinator from our Gold Medal Staff who will monitor each instructional session to review and expand upon the curriculum with each student. The wrestlers will be divided by age and experience as needed so that each wrestler is able to focus on the technical skills and tactics that they most need to improve upon. The base curriculum as designed by Coach Chertow will be comprised of the highest percentage techniques in wrestling, and they will be presented in a systematic fashion with emphasis on the finer teaching points.
