The 10th Annual Global Youth Peace Summit will unite 70 youth (ages 14-17) from 25+ countries for a week-long experience dedicated to personal growth, healing, cultural exchange, leadership development and community building. The 10th Annual Texas Global Youth Peace Summit will take place August 15th-21st, 2016 at Camp Champions in Marble Falls, Texas. Kid's Yoga Summer Camp: Week 2 - Indianapolis, IN
More than ever before, kids face an abundance of pressures and stress. Mindfulness practices, such as yoga, meditation and breathwork, can give children the tools they need to navigate their life in a way that is true and authentic to them. During this special week of yoga camp, we will explore the many gifts that yoga has to give. Children will participate in activities that empower and center them, foster a strong sense of self, and connect them to the greater community. These ativities include, but are not limited to: Poses to empower, strengthen and bring balance Meditations and breathing practices to calm the body, mind and spirit Principles to guide healthy interactions w/ themselves and the world around them All exploration will take place in a playful, safe environment where each child can find their unique voice. Students will be introduced to the beauty and fun of insects and will explore their environments in a class where art meets science. Young entomologists will create a variety of 2D and 3D forms using materials from nature and an army of art supplies using paint, collage, clay, printmaking, mixed media, and more. Come bug out with us! Storytellers (Ages 4-7) Storytelling helps students improve their language skills, instills a love of reading and stirs imaginations. Campers will spend the week making delicious desserts and mouth-watering main courses. Through daily hands-on cooking, campers will learn creative ways to cook some of their favorite dishes. Campers will learn how to make healthy cooking choices, read food labels, write recipes, measure cooking ingredients, determine proper portion sizes, and more! Rutgers 2016 Design Intensive - Civic Square Building
Rutgers 2016 Design Intensive Website: This program seeks to develop the graphic design skills of motivated high school artists. Created and supervised by Mason Gross faculty, the curriculum focuses on core principles of design while introducing relevant software. Participants will become familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign while exploring visual problems and producing work suitable for a college admissions portfolio. The Design Intensive includes studio work, technical demonstrations, group critiques, and a field trip to New York City to visit working design studios. Primary emphasis is placed on building visual awareness, and on making software serve the designers vision.
