*This class is for ALL students age 4-6 in both Preschool and Kindergarten. Kindergarteners have an opportunity to further develop their drawing skills before entering our hour-long KidzArt IMAGINE! class. Instruction is modified for each childs abilities. Limited to 8 students.* Learning about art and how to draw is like learning a new language with KidzArt DISCOVER! The ‘language of art begins with the recognition of lines and shapes. We show students how these lines and shapes can fit together to create a complete whole. Then we introduce them to the tools to do it for themselves. Much of DISCOVER! centers around teaching our young students to slow down, to focus, and to see how the world around them is put together. They learn how they can create recognizable forms from the ‘language of art they are learning. DISCOVER! offers our students praise, support and direction, while we ask for their attention and willingness to perform their personal best. This class focuses on process. Free Summer Horse Day Camp for Kids, Week 8 of 9 - Lacomb, OR
This is not your typical day camp! Kids learn how to get big jobs done and earn big rewards through our framework of barn, garden, and community activities. Our mixture of work, learning, and play develops character, leadership, and real-world skills. Kids start the morning cleaning stalls and doing other jobs, then have a well-supervised fellowship lunch, then ride or do other horse activities in the afternoon. For the kids that are interested in doing other things doing the horsemanship time, we have interesting building or maintenance projects as well as gardening. Sometimes we have someone come share an aspect of their career, or we will go on a field trip to a business, and sometimes we need to go pick up hay or other donations as part of the camp day. Toward the end of the day as parents arrive, we usually do a short devotion that gives kids the chance to tell how they illustrated a positive characteristic that day. Parents and kids should attend a 90-minute tour and orientation prior to enrolling, you just call us and schedule a time. Students construct their own reality! The Geometers Sketchpad computer software provides opportunity to explore the world of Geometry through dynamic constructions. Children literally build their own mathematical system using simple tools… right on the computer. It takes the compass and straightedge, used years ago, to a whole new level! No previous math experience required—if your child can use a mouse, then he/she can use Geometers Sketchpad.
