Art Across Cultures - During this session, you will make and learn about art all over the world. You will have the chance to try out new techniques and media while making art inspired by cultures near and far. An After School art class where students in grades 1 - 6 will HAVE FUN and learn to draw. By using our simple drawing method and weekly format certified instructors help students create original works of art beyond what they thought possible. We are a drawing based program, complimented with artistic projects and curriculum that never repeat. We offer exposure to many mediums over the course of a students education. Kid's Summer Yoga Camp - Canby, OR
Balance and Harmony is happy to announce our first summer yoga camp for children ages 3-5. This camp will introduce your child to basic yoga poses and breathing exercises through story, songs and games. Each class will also include a creative activity that reinforces our yoga practice. Children will bring a packed snack and we will enjoy time outside at Wait Park. Taught by Sherry Wolfson. Sherry holds a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a 200 hour Yoga Teaching Certificate. She began teaching preschool and special education over 30 years ago and has taught yoga to preschoolers at Childswork Learning Center in Portalnd for the past 3 years. Classes will be held for 5 weeks (July 1st - 29th) on Wednesdays from 1:00-4:00. Fee-$150 for all 5 days. I have been invited to be the Lead Speaker at this Year’s Youth Leadership Camp being held by The Christ United Methodist Church and Mississippi Families for Kids on the June 27, 2016 starting at 9:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. I am so honored that I have have been asked and I look forward to Empowering our Leaders of Tomorrow with the Encouraging of Words of God. In addition, to utilizing my life experiences, professional knowledge and expertise to inform participants of what is necessary to achieve their goals and how to become successful adults. It is my desire that youth will be able to reach inside of themselves to identify those strengths that will be the driving forces for their futures. So, on June 27, 2016 come out and help us..... Discover how easy it is to find the funny. No memorization, no rehearsals, no mistakes - just bring your desire to have a good time. INSTRUCTOR BIO: KEELY KIRK stepped into the improv abyss at a tender age and found a place to be herself. She began training with Mental Floss, a Miami-based improv/sketch troupe which performed at the Coconut Grove Playhouse until Hurricane Andrew blew it all away. She went on to be a principal performer for over ten years with Laughing Gas Comedy Improv --Miamis longest-running improv theatre company. She then decided that Miami was just too warm and balmy and moved to Chicago (the improv epicenter), where she was involved with and trained with IO (formally Improv Olympics) and Second City. While in Chicago, Keely decided to follow President Obama to Washington D.C., to become his presidential jester; however, due to government cutbacks, she was furloughed. Calling all young composers! Heres a camp for you to meet other young composers and share your passion for creating music. Gain the tools you need to grow as a composer. Study the works of living and historic composers to understand how other composers think and solve problems. Receive coaching from MacPhail composition faculty on recent and current works. Hear your compositions performed by professional musicians. You will be asked to submit a score for review prior to the camp. Space is limited, register early! Students in the Composition Camp may opt to also enroll the in the optional Composition Camp Elective: Theory and Counterpoint for an additional fee. Teen Artist Work/Study - MacRostie Art Center
The MacRostie Art Center work/study program for teen artists increases accessibility to our educational programming for teens while providing opportunity to experience real-world visual art administration and will look great on any resume or college application. Teen artists may choose to focus on experience in exhibitions and curatorial work, art education, event planning, or any other aspect of what the MAC does for the art community. This opportunity is open to artists ages 15-18. For every 6 hours worked, students will receive a $60 voucher towards the tuition of any MacRostie art workshop to be used in the following year.
