The featured program of Week 1 is both Daring and Dangerous! Inspired by The Dangerous Book for Boys and The Daring Book for Girls , campers will practice all sorts of mischief, from learning how to tie basic knots to fun variations of classic games. Theres even an entire day devoted to all amazing things you can do with a lemon! We are excited about our 2015 Summer Teen Camp. We will be headed to camp CoBeAc in Michigan to join in "the Next Great Detective" the week of July 20th-25th. Exploring Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Through the Art of Glass Blowing and Flameworking Join Ignite Glass Studios for an end of Summer experience like no other! Teens ages 13-17 will work with Ignites’ experienced instructors to learn the arts of Glass Blowing, Solid Sculpting, and Flameworking. No prior glass experience necessary. Rovers Soccer Skill Building is directed by professional soccer coach and NJ Youth Soccer Hall of Fame Inductee, Spencer Rockman. This weekly, high energy session puts emphasis on skill-building games, which promotes maximum learning and enjoyment - enhanced by a small-sided match. These sessions are family-friendly, since siblings can play at the same time, divided according to age/ experience. Rovers accommodates all levels of play for boys and girls. Magical Adventures – Little Superheroes - The Oakwood School
Learn to throw webs like Spiderman, join the superheroes to save a princess, stop the worry monsters and more when you take magical adventures with your favorite superheroes. These exciting activity, relaxation, and mindfulness classes creatively engage the campers imaginations with exciting themes and superhero missions. Through play, crafts, and guided stories, children will learn some basic relaxation techniques and simple mindfulness skills, such as the superheros mindful listening (focusing on a particular sound or listening to see how many different sounds we hear), mindful seeing (like Superman—focusing on seeing things we had not noticed), and mindful breathing (paying attention to our own breathing). Superheroes are known for their ability to focus their superpowers and use them for compassion. Congressman Tim Ryan says, "Mindfulness will help children to pay attention and be kind to themselves and others as they swim in a world of distraction and aggression." Personal Finance 101 - Camp/Workshop Leader: Gardner Barrier Dates: June 27 - July 1 Rising grades: 6 - 9 In this camp your child will work through fun and engaging conversations and games that will start their journey into financial literacy. We will play games that introduce financial topics, we will explore spreadsheet functionality as we design and evaluate plans, and we will learn some basic lessons about how money works. This "camp" will feel at times like a summer seminar, at times like game play, and at times like group analysis. We will be thinking hard, having meaningful conversations, and having a good time. Participants will finish up the week feeling like blinders have been taken off. They will see the world differently. And theyll have fun, too! All students need to bring is a curiosity about how money works, a willingness to think about things differently, and a desire to learn as much as possible. We will not be leaving campus.
