Ocean Explorers (Week 2 PM) - Construction Clashes - NESS
Choose this team oriented engineering challenge to make a new planktonic dispersal design, fabricate a super sand structure, create new model buildings built on stilts, and use biomimicry to engineer your own new invention. Test your designs, utilize iPads to aid construction plans, and have fun with engaging engineering trials while working with friends. Art Adventures for Kids: Session VI - Farmhouse
This one week half day program is full of colorful summer fun! Kids will create art projects each day with a summer theme. Through projects that include body motion, story-time, and music, campers will create unique pieces of art that connect to science, history, and math. They will work with paper mache, clay, paint and other fun materials. They will also learn fun summer songs and play improv acting games. Students should bring a snack and water bottle and dress in comfortable clothes that they dont mind getting dirty! Week will end with a special showcase/art show for family and friends. CHILDREN DINING ETIQUETTE - EDUCATIONAL EVENTS & SEMINARS
Whether youre eating at home, dining out, or having dinner with friends, good table manners for kids are an important part of every meal. When you teach your child good table manners, you are giving them important tools for social interaction that will serve them for the rest of their lives. Plus, laying the groundwork for good etiquette at the dinner table means your children will more likely become pleasant dinner companions for family meals in the years to come. This year, instead of the usual resolutions, why not make gathering the family around the dining table -- working on manners and proper eating etiquette -- top of the list. The session will be of 1 and 1/2 hours, children will be trained on a soup, a cutting protein and fake wine (grape juice). They will learn how to sit, table posture, hands position, utensils placement and usage, drinking from a glass, speaking, chewing and much much more. Chef Walter has been teaching dining etiquette since 1985 where the program began at the East Greenwich Elementary Schools...Just remember that most CEOs do not have a professional dining etiquette and often miss the most important steps of table manners. Advanced Computer Camp - Pi Edition - Transylvania University
Experienced computer students are given the opportunity to work on advanced projects. This camps theme will involve the Raspberry Pi computers as a low-cost experimenters platform. Morning and afternoon programming sessions will begin with a short lecture, then you will be allowed to address several challenges in response to the topic covered in the lecture. Learn at your own pace, but instructors will be available to help if you have questions or problems. Evening sessions are reserved for independent work and network gaming. During camp, participants will live in a Transylvania residence hall and eat three meals a day in the dining hall, beginning with breakfast on Monday. Campers can also use Transys library, computer laboratory, and recreational facilities. Internet service will not be available in the dorm rooms. Campers must have attended a previous Transylvania computer camp or taken some programming classes at your high school. If you do not have this background, please consider registering for our Introduction to Computer Programming Camp, scheduled for June 12-17. Enrollment is limited to 35 campers.
