This camp is designed specifically with teenagers’ safety and well-being in mind. As parents, we want our teenagers to be safe, but we also want them to grow up feeling comfortable with themselves, having a healthy self-esteem and self-image. This means equipping them with the skills and knowledge to assess and deal with both physically and psychologically threatening situations. Safety at school cannot be overstressed. Beginning students will learn basic skills involved with handbuilding in clay. This includes coil and slab built work, and basic sculpting techniques will also be covered as needed. All students will explore adding color using our selection of under glazes and colorful studio glazes. Tuition includes clay, glazes and firing fees. Class will meet: 01/17, 01/24, 02/07, and 02/14. Students will work with clay and learn basic sculptural techniques, including modeling, adding and taking away material. Students will work from objects as models or from their imagination, creating both abstract and figurative sculptures. Learn how to construct light armature as well as techniques for constructing hollow cylinders and spheres and cuboids as the base of their forms. Students will also have the opportunity to sculpt a human head from a model! For this we would work with each other as models! Both new and experienced artists are welcome. 2035624927 x14
