This outdoors-oriented camp provides an ideal introduction to scouting, teaching the basics of camping, hiking, and survival. Using the expansive 60 acre Portledge campus and adjacent Coffin woods, campers learn how to hike paths, pitch tents, ration supplies, find resources, make maps, and apply critical thinking skills not just to survive, but to thrive in the great outdoors. I think in this day and age it's so important for girls to have the opportunity to bond with other girls without distraction. Yes, I'm talking about boys and texting! What's amazing is that our daughter didn't seem to miss either this summer. She came back from Alpengirl so confident and self-assured. She's also eating a lot more salad. This is one of our greatest opportunities at White Pine. Participants recieve on-going mentorship in complex wilderness survival skills, tracking, and awareness. We are an aboriginal skills school. We teach these skills within an ethnohistorical context. Our intention is to deepen each persons relationship with their environment, their ancestry, their community and themselves. All this within the context of "the invisible school" a mentorship model that disguises curriculum in games, stories, and spontanious nature learning. Cost is $35.

This will also be our "elections" business session at 11:15 prior to lunch. All voting members are encouraged to be present. Also, those who want may join the Coordinator to be praying for our campuses, students, and leaders about 30 min. prior to the start.
